Vaccination & exemption policy
| |
COVID-19 vaccination and boosters help prevent infection and, for those who do become infected, decrease the severity of illness. That’s why University of Portland requires all students, staff, and faculty to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 including any eligible boosters, or be approved for an exemption. Visit the Vaccinations page on the Pilots Prevent website for instructions on providing proof of compliance.

It can be hard to tell the difference between COVID-19 and the common cold since they share many of the same symptoms: fever or chills, cough or shortness of breath, muscle or body aches, sore throat. If you’re experiencing symptoms such as these, get tested — especially before coming to campus. Even if a test is negative, anyone with symptoms should practice extra precaution, particularly by wearing a mask, until those symptoms have improved.

Test Kits Available During Orientation Weekend
| |
Students experiencing symptoms after arriving on campus can pick up a COVID-19 self-test kit from Campus Safety 24 hours a day. Report positive cases at the Pilots Prevent website. Any student who tests positive for COVID-19 will receive support from the COVID Case Management Team. During the school year, students can get tested at the Health and Counseling Center during regular business hours.

Although face masks are no longer required in indoor and outdoor spaces on campus, University of Portland strongly recommends masking in indoor spaces, or anywhere near a member of the community who would feel more comfortable with masks in place. Masks are still required inside the Health and Counseling Center. Disposable face masks are readily available around campus. For more information about UP’s mask policy, visit the Guidelines on Campus page.
