As of today (8/14/26), 92 student groups have completed the required Student Group Leader Training (SGLT) in Canvas, with just 12 days remaining before the August 25th deadline. 378 student groups still need to complete the training.

*If a student group has more than one (1) president listed on their WUGO roster - each president must complete the required SGLT training.

The president of every Campus Life-recognized undergraduate student group.
The president of every Student Union-recognized undergraduate student group.
Presidents must be correctly listed in the group's WUGO roster to receive access to the training.
Groups that do not have a president assigned in WUGO should update their roster immediately to ensure compliance.

We heard the feedback loud and clear: spending an entire Saturday in a lecture hall during the first week of the semester was probably not anyone's idea of a great time. That's why SGLT has been moved to a fully asynchronous Canvas course, allowing presidents to complete the training on their own schedule, work through the content at their own pace, and revisit important information whenever needed.

By moving Student Group Leader Training (SGLT) online, student leaders can spend less time in a classroom and more time leading their organizations. While the format has changed, the goal remains the same: helping student group leaders start the year informed, prepared, and set up for success.

Students listed as president(s) for undergraduate Student Union or Campus Life-recognized student groups in WUGO were initially enrolled in the asynchronous Student Group Leader Training (SGLT) Canvas course on July 31st.

If your student group has updated its officer roster in WUGO since that time, Student Group Leader Training (SGLT) Canvas training assignments are processed every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, ensuring the correct student receives access to the course and can complete the requirement before the August 25th deadline.

Not sure if your president information is current in WUGO?

Log into the WUGO admin dashboard, search for your organization, the click on the roster tab at the top. Check that your officers are correct. If not, make the necessary adjustments.

Planning an event this semester? In most cases, all student group events must be registered in WUGO at least 14 days in advance to allow sufficient time for review, approvals, and any required coordination with campus partners. Review the information below for important guidance on the event registration process and steps your organization should follow to ensure events are approved on time.

Hosting an event this semester? All student group events, meetings, programs, and activities must be registered through WUGO and, submitted at least 14 days before the event date. Event registration helps ensure your organization receives any necessary approvals, support, space reservations, risk management review, and coordination with campus partners before your event takes place.

Student groups should submit event registrations as soon as plans are finalized and should not advertise, promote, or host events that have not been approved through the registration process. Unregistered events may result in a student conduct referral and other impacts to a group's recognition status. Review the guidance below for important information on completing your event registration accurately and on time.

To make event tracking easier throughout the year, we strongly encourage student groups to use the following format in the Event Name field on the registration form:

[Event Name] - [Date]
Example: Dance Practice - 9/15/2026

Why are we asking groups to do this? Many student groups host recurring events with identical or very similar names, particularly practices, rehearsals, meetings, and weekly programs. Throughout the year, student leaders are often asked to complete post-event forms, evaluations, attendance reporting, and other follow-up processes that require selecting an event from a list of event names. Including the date in the event title makes it much easier for officers to identify the correct event, reduces confusion, and helps ensure accurate reporting and recordkeeping.

Fall programming is almost here. In just two weeks, on August 29th, student groups may officially begin hosting meetings, events, activities, and other organization-sponsored programs for the Fall 2026 semester. Review the requirements below to ensure your group is ready to launch programming on day one and avoid any delays caused by outstanding compliance requirements.

Student undergraduate student groups must have their president(s) complete SGLT in order to begin programming (holding/participating in events, programs or activities) on the first day of programming. Provided that your student group president(s) has completed SGLT, your group will be permitted to begin programming on Saturday, August 29, 2026.  

Those groups who have not had their president(s) complete SGLT, will be temporarily deactivated in WUGO on Wednesday, August 26th and will not reactivated nor be permitted to program until SGLT has been completed.
