Check out our PHFA Community Partnership Award video!
At this year's Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency's housing counseling awards ceremony, NeighborWorks Northeastern PA received the Community Partnership Award.
This award goes to agencies that have made a big impact by collaborating with local community organizations. The criteria for this award focuses on the quality of those partnerships and how they enhance our ability to provide top-notch counseling. The impact these partnerships have on the number of clients we can assist is key, and we've seen some incredible success stories come out of these collaborations.
We want to thank our incredible partners, PHFA and Final Focus Productions for creating this video!

Lackawanna Land Bank transfers its 300th property since 2017
Last month, the Lackawanna County Land Bank achieved a significant milestone, selling its 300th parcel since acquiring its first properties in 2017. The land bank focuses on revitalizing tax-delinquent and abandoned properties, ensuring they contribute to community growth. Following the initial five years, all property tax revenues directly support local institutions. With over 1,000 properties on the list, this initiative is making a tangible impact on Scranton and beyond. Jesse Ergott, our President & CEO, is the advisory committee chair for the land bank.

Main Avenue Trick or Treat safety improvement demonstration
We were happy to participate in the Main Ave Trick or Treat hosted by Shamrock Construction this year. Over 1,500 people walked the streets of Main Avenue and got candy from local businesses and organizations.
We placed temporary yield to pedestrian signs as well as temporary roll out crosswalks to increase visibility for those walking, biking, and rolling along Main Avenue. Our work on Halloween was supported by the Safe Routes Partnership through the Pennsylvania Activating Communities program.
The demonstration showed how important safety improvements along Main Ave are for West Scranton community members. We surveyed the community and 95 people reported that the temporary crosswalks made them feel safer. Furthermore, 87 people reported that the temporary yield to pedestrian signs made them feel safer crossing the street. We look forward to continuing to work with PennDOT and the City of Scranton to further safety measures in West Scranton.
