Hello Dunn County 4-H Families!

Happy start of the school year! Good luck to all of our 4-H'ers and the many parents and volunteers that work at a school. I hope you have a fun, safe, and successful year.

Since September is a busy time for everyone, we tend to slow down with county programming. We have some groups meeting this months and some upcoming events for you to put on your calendar. In this newsletter you will learn about:

September is the perfect time to work on your 4-H record books. Although record books are not required, they are a great way to document your 4-H experience, and practice skills like creating a resume and cover letter. They also make you eligible for club and county awards.

Each club will have it's own due date for youth to submit their record books. After they are judged at the club level, club leaders can submit record books for county awards.

Record books are due to the county for county awards on Monday, September 28

Starting September 2nd at 8am 4-H members and volunteers need to re-enroll on www.4honline.com. We ask that you complete your re-enrollment by October 31st.

Youth who are not enrolled by October 31st will not be covered by the 4-H insurance, and not able to participate in 4-H activities.

Volunteers who are not enrolled and have their trainings complete by October 31st will not be able to work with youth.

Please complete your re-enrollment as soon as possible so you do not miss out on any of the great 4-H opportunities.

Congratulations the junior dairy judging teams on their first place finish at the state competition in Madison!

The senior team also made an impressive showing with an 8th place finish!

Join us on November 14, 9am-noon for the Project Discovery Day!

Project Discovery Day is a great way to learn about, and try out new 4-H projects, it is open to ALL Dunn County 4-H'ers and guests in grades k-13, so bring your friends! All of the projects will be hands on and interactive.

Join the Youth Activities Council for their next meeting on September 22, 6:00pm at the County Government Building. We will gather in the pavillion on the East side of the building for a quick meeting, then play a winner-take-all kickball game!

This is a great meeting for new members to come to and check out what we do! In addition to kickball, we will also be planning out events for the next 4-H year.

Looking for a new 4-H adventure this year? The Small Animal Project might be just what you’re looking for!

Whether you’re interested in rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, or other small animals, there’s a place for you in our project. You don’t have to be an expert—or even have an animal yet! Come learn with us about animal care, breeds, showmanship, preparing for the fair, and so much more.

We have lots of fun ideas planned for the upcoming year and would love to welcome some new faces!

Calling all young performers, theater lovers, and community volunteers!

The Chippewa, Dunn, and Eau Claire County Tri-County Performing Arts Coalition is exploring opportunities to bring more performing arts experiences to local youth and families, and we want to hear from you!

Help shape the future of performing arts in the Chippewa Valley and surrounding communities!

The beginning of the school year is stressful for everyone. This is expecially true for our youngest members. The changes in routine cause big emotions that cloverbuds haven't learned how to manage.

One way to mange big emotions and help youth transition into the school year is to practice mindfulness activities.

Are you looking to build your leadership skills? Would like to find more ways to help lead your club? Then Fall Forum is for you!

Fall Forum is a statewide leadership conference fore leaders and youth in grades 7 and up. It will take place in Stevens Point on November 6-8 (one day options are also available).

Each year members and volunteers need to re-enroll in the program. Although it takes some time, enrolling every year is important because it insures that all of your information is correct and up todate. It also gives you a chance to pick new projects. 

I have linked an enrollment guide for anyone who needs help navigating 4-H online.

Finally, if you plan to participate in any 4-H events this year, it is very important that you re-enroll. Youth who are not enrolled on www.4honline.com by October 31 will not be covered by the 4-H insurance, and therefor cannot participate in any 4-H events (including club meetings).

Being new is scary.  Please don't hesitate to reach out to Zac or your club leader if you have any questions.  We're here to help.

County-wide project meetings are open to any 4-H member who meets the age criteria.  If you are unsure about adding a project area, these meetings are an excellent way to explore and learn more.  Reach out to the extension office or project leaders for more information.

4-H On the Air is a fun and unique opportunity for the youth, and a great way to promote your club and Dunn County 4-H. Interviews can be done at the station or by phone.

The Dunn County Leaders Council is excited to help fund your 4-H trip!  The Leaders Council is committed to funding 25% of all state and national trips and experiences. The Leaders Council may fund at greater amounts depending on the number of participants and budgetary allowances.

The Leaders Council supports youth in excelling in 4-H activities by helping to remove financial barriers.  If your youth needs financial assistance for a 4-H project or activity, email zachary.rozmiarek@wisc.edu.  All requests are voted on by the Leaders Council and are kept anonymous.

The Leaders Council will meet on Monday, November 16 at 6:30pm in the Lower Level of the County Government Building.

The Leaders Council isn't just for club leaders.  ALL Dunn County 4-H parents and volunteers are invited to attend.  If you are looking for a way to support the Dunn County 4-H Program, the Leaders Council is for you.

Parents and volunteers are welcome to join online or in person.

The Leaders Council is looking for volunteers who would like to serve on a committee.  If you are passionate about helping youth, and would like to help fund raise, organize events, or assist with awards, reach out to Zac for more information.
