The Power of We in Motion

While Colonial administrators and staff are working hard to serve the district’s 10,000 students, the district still reached out to help an important community partner. After keeping a sufficient supply of gloves and masks for our district employees, Colonial Nation was still able to make a generous donation to A.I. Dupont Children's Hospital. The donation included:

10,000 gloves
5,000 medical masks of various types
600 face shields

Special thanks to Division of Behavioral Health Director, Dr. Jon Cooper, his wife Heather, and Transportation Supervisor, Andrew Moffett for being the force behind this powerful community service project. Colonial Nation delivers in a time of need!

Remote Learning is Underway!

Remote learning will launch Monday, April 6th, now that schools distributed Chromebooks and other devices for a second time last Saturday. Administrators and Teachers have already been connecting with students so they can continue their education while at home and be better prepared for when this current health threat ends.

Chicken, Chicken, Where's our Chicken?

Thanks to Colonial’s Facebook family, Buttercup, a chicken being raised by students at Wilmington Manor, is safe. She was stolen from the school’s chicken coop which was made by construction students at William Penn. The good news is she somehow managed to escape and made her way to a nearby home. Thank you, Ms. Allen, for keeping Buttercup safe. This good samaritan made a Facebook post above. Teacher Katie Zimmerman was relieved when she saw the post and was reunited with Buttercup. All six of Wilmington Manor’s chickens are now in safer quarters where they will remain until students return to school and can continue caring for them.

George Read Student Tops in AG Too!

Earlier this month, Noah Stone placed 1st in his FFA competition, competing against other middle school and high school students from around the state! Noah will be competing on the national level this fall. Other FFA students who attended the conference helped put care packages together for the military overseas and participated in workshops from visiting state officers. Congrats Noah for representing Who We Are!

Grab & Go Keeps Going and Growing!

The District’s Grab and Go meal program had its biggest week yet; 23,308 meals were served! Since the program began March 17th, Colonial’s outstanding Nutrition Services Division, volunteers, nutrition and transportation workers have given out 53,090 breakfast and lunch bags to students. A mother and her children sent the beautiful thank you note seen below, and everyone in Colonial Nation wants to thank those who are working tirelessly to see that our students are receiving nutritious meals during these trying times.
