Steve Ruffin will lead the AE School as it searches for a new permanent leader after Mitchell Walker takes on his new role as College of Engineering dean and Southern Company Chair. He returns to leadership in the AE School after serving in various roles within Georgia Tech’s College of Lifetime Learning and Georgia Tech Professional Education. Ruffin was AE’s associate chair for undergraduate and graduate programs from 2016 to 2022. 

Professor Sarah Li creates technology that helps satellites and aircraft make smart, real‑time decisions in crowded, unpredictable conditions. Leading, the Control, Coordination, and Competition under Uncertainty (C3U) Lab, she specializes in multi-agent systems and in interactive decision-making among autonomous vehicles, humans, and aircraft. 

Vincent Griffo, Ojas Gupta, and Samuel Woolsey have been named 2026 Astronaut Scholars by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF). They join a class of 79 college juniors and seniors from 54 universities nationwide.

In a project led by the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in collaboration with the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) researchers are closing the gap between Earth-based simulations and the true space environment by sending experimental materials to the International Space Station (ISS) for several months of in-orbit exposure.

Asif Khan and Lance Fernandes built the ferroelectric NAND memory chips in Georgia Tech’s cleanroom, then sent the chips for radiation testing to collaborators at Pennsylvania State University. Those tests revealed just how extreme the technology’s tolerance could be.
