Enjoying the Fall Season with The Link

Our students, tutors, and staff have had many opportunities to learn something new, explore nature, and build connections with The Link this fall.
On Monday mornings in September, we kicked off a meditation class taught by Sam Green, Associate Professor of Nursing at UVA.
This week, we took a trip to Carter Mountain Orchard to pick apples, drink cider, eat delicious donuts, and enjoy the gorgeous views while making new friends.
Next month, the group will take a Fall Tree Identification walk at the Virginia Department of Forestry to view the changing leaves.
The Link is a space for students and tutors to connect through fun activities and to connect to the greater Charlottesville Community. The group is an initiative as part of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) implementation.
The Link welcomes student and volunteer input. Contact link@literacyforall.org if you have ideas that would inspire a sense of community or would like to help organize or host events behind the scenes. Check The Link page on the LVCA website literacyforall.org/the-link to view the schedule of activities.
Students, tutors, and staff had a wonderful visit to Carter Mountain Orchard on a cool fall morning this week to pick apples.

October New Tutor Training at Northside Library
We are recruiting compassionate and enthusiastic volunteers to tutor adults in English speaking, reading, and writing. Additionally, many of our students need support preparing for their U.S. Citizenship interviews.
If you would like to provide one-to-one instruction to adults in our community, we invite you to attend a New Tutor Training. No teaching experience is required, only a desire to help learners reach their educational goals.
