Greetings from Hockaday! I have enjoyed meeting many prospective parents at our recent Parent Visits and look forward to opportunities to gather at upcoming events. We welcome the whole family to enjoy a glimpse of Hockaday at our Middle and Upper School Admission Preview on Sunday, October 20. We will have interactive break-out sessions, campus tours, and time to talk with faculty, coaches, and students. Our next Lower School Parent Visit on Sunday, October 27, offers parents who are unable to join us on a weekday morning the opportunity to attend a similar program including time to visit with our Lower School teachers.
I hope you enjoy learning about what has been happening at Hockaday as much as we love experiencing it. Our girls have been making positive impacts and shining in the halls, on the fields, on the stage, and out in Dallas. Recently, the first-grade students visited Operation Kindness to read to animals as one of the Lower School initiatives for Hockaday’s Institute for Social Impact. In Middle School, the fifth graders bonded and worked on team-building projects during their annual trip to Camp Balcones Springs, and the eighth graders are hard at work on their musical, Mary Poppins, Jr. Last week, Upper School faculty, parents, and students enjoyed the annual Hockaday Research Symposium where students displayed their research from summer work in both university-based and scientific laboratory settings. Our girls also participated in leadership training at a Social Impact Retreat, and they were all smiles at the Upper School Student Council mixer. Additionally, all divisions had the opportunity to attend a character and courtesy education assembly with Dr. Sandra Chapman. Finally, the whole Hockaday community is gearing up for our second annual one-mile Color Run and Wellness Festival on Monday before Fall Break!
We encourage you to visit our campus to experience the Hockaday difference. Please visit our website, www.hockaday.org, for school news and admission information and events. We look forward to getting to know you and your family.
All my best,
Maryanna Phipps
Director of Admission and Enrollment Management
