Virtual School Update

The ongoing process of staffing all Elementary Virtual School classrooms has continued throughout the weekend. Below is information as of noon yesterday:
English Elementary Teachers: Approximately 70 teachers are still required. To further assist in reducing this number, we are now reaching out to Secondary Occasional Teachers, who are qualified to teach Grades 7 and 8.
French Immersion/Extended French Teachers: Approximately 80 teachers are still required. As you know, the availability of French teachers has been and continues to be a challenge.
Please note that we had originally indicated a need for approximately 2,200 teachers for the Virtual School. As students have been placed, including those in smaller ISP classes, this number has been revised to approximately 2,400 teachers. Despite this increase, we believe we will be able to fully staff the English program in the next few days.
Tech Support: If you are experiencing account and password issues, the quickest and most efficient way to access support is to complete this form. Once the information has been verified, login and password information for your child will be emailed to you. Additionally, you can access Brightspace support 24 hours a day. IT has also set up a designated parent phone support line at 416-396-9100 that is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For students who are yet to be assigned teachers and those students who are interested, please continue to access the independent learning resources web page where more resources, activities and live teacher-led videos have been added for the second week.
