Fund for Education Abroad Scholarship- Deadline: January 18! Planning to study abroad in Summer, Fall, or Academic Year 2023-2024? Apply for a Fund for Education Abroad Scholarship. Recipients receive between $1,250 and $10,000 for programs abroad of at least 4 weeks.

PEN America Emerging Voices Fellowship- Deadline: January 31! The program provides a five-month immersive mentorship program for early-career writers who are traditionally underrepresented in the publishing world. The program is committed to cultivating the careers of Black writers and serves writers who identify as Indigenous, persons of color, LGBTQIA+, immigrants, writers with disabilities, and those living outside of urban centers. Twelve fellows will receive an honorarium of $1,500.

ABF Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship- Deadline: February 1! The American Bar Foundation (ABF) is accepting applications for Undergraduate Research Fellows to gain exposure to sociolegal research during the Summer of 2023. We are particularly impressed by students who demonstrate a strong work ethic and intellectual curiosity and who take initiative with mentors by asking questions and expressing a genuine interest in their research. Preference will be given to candidates from underrepresented backgrounds, including but not limited to first-generation and low-income students and students of color. All Fellows will participate in the program 35 hours a week in our Chicago, IL, office on a hybrid schedule (i.e., some days working in the office, some days remotely) from June 5 to July 28, 2023, and receive a gross stipend of $6,000. Students must have completed at least two years of their undergraduate program and must not have received a bachelor’s degree by the time the fellowship begins.

Anatolia College Fellowships in Greece- Deadline: February 1! Fellowship opportunities for recent college graduates during the academic year – especially those interested in applying their liberal arts, human and international relations skills in an educational setting. From teaching, mentoring, and counseling, to doing institutional research, they are seeking recent graduates from a wide range of backgrounds. All fellows are provided housing on campus. Fellowships include full room and board, plus up to 1000 Euros for one round trip air economy ticket to/from Greece, and a monthly stipend of €400. Capital Fellows Programs- Deadline: February 6! 18 Assembly Fellows, 18 Senate Fellows, 18 Executive Fellows, and 10 Judicial Administration Fellows receive an outstanding opportunity to engage in public service and prepare for future careers, while actively contributing to the development and implementation of public policy in California. Fellows are placed at some of the highest levels of California state government and assist state legislators, senior-level executive staff, and court administrators with a broad range of public policy issues and projects and are typically given assignments with a significant amount of responsibility and challenges. Students can apply for multiple placements. All Fellows receive
- a monthly stipend of $3,253, as well as medical, dental, and vision benefits;
- fully-paid enrollment and earn six graduate units;
- student loan deferment;
- and upon successful completion of the fellowship, a Graduate Certificate in Applied Policy and Government

Marshall-Motley Scholars Program- Deadline: February 6! MMSP is committed to identifying and investing in the next generation of aspiring lawyers dedicated to pursuing racial justice in the South, and for whom this work is a personal and professional calling. Scholars receive:
- A full law school scholarship for tuition, room and board, and incidentals to alleviate the debt burden that can prevent future lawyers from pursuing a career as a civil rights lawyer;
- Summer internships with national and regional civil rights organizations with offices in the South focused on racial justice to jumpstart training in civil rights law;
- Two-year postgraduate fellowship at civil rights law organizations in the South fighting to achieve racial justice; and
- Access to special trainings sponsored by LDF and the National Academy of Sciences
In return, Scholars will commit to serving as civil rights lawyers based in the South, engaged in a law practice focused on achieving racial justice for 8 years following the conclusion of their fellowship.

Fulbright UK Summer Institutes- Deadline: February 7. Three-to-four-week, fully-funded summer programmes for freshmen and sophomores. Participants explore the culture, heritage, and history of the UK while experiencing higher education at a UK university. Must be a U.S. citizen with little to no experience abroad, and have a minimum 3.7 GPA to apply. Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholarship- Deadline: February 15. The HSF Scholarship is designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a university degree. Scholarships are available, on a competitive basis to undergraduate students and graduate students. Awards are based on merit; amounts range from $500 to $5,000. Open to U.S. citizens, permanent legal residents, or DACAmented students.

Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program- Deadline: February 15. A six-week summer program designed to provide undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers. The program covers the costs for tuition, travel, housing, and two meals per day. It also provides a stipend of $3,300. Open to U.S. citizens with at least sophomore-level standing and a 3.2 minimum GPA. Contact Lindsay Anderson for application support.

Legacy Award of the Victims of Pan Am Flight 103, Inc- Deadline: February 21. Legacy Awards of up to $5,000 are available to students pursuing advanced degrees at U.S. institutions in areas of study related to improved national security and terrorism prevention. Applicants may apply from all fields of study, but only applicants who make a clear connection between their program of study and career goals with improving national security and terrorism prevention will be considered for this award. Individuals who completed their undergraduate degree in the United States and who are or will be enrolling in a graduate program in the United States are eligible to apply.

Essential Visionaries Scholarship- Deadline: February 8. Established to assist students seeking a degree in Education, Counseling, or Psychology. Recipients attending four-year institutions will receive an award of up to $10,000. Awards may be renewed for up to four additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Open to DACA students, US citizens, and permanent residents.

Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship- Deadline: February 3! Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship is a path to a career in the Foreign Service. This two-year fellowship provides undergraduate and graduate students with up to $75,000 in academic funding for an IT-related degree (junior and senior year of a bachelor’s degree or a two-year master’s degree). Fellows also get two summer internships (one in Washington, D.C., and one at an embassy or consulate abroad), professional development, and mentorship. Travel, accommodations, and other expenses are covered by the program, and stipends are provided for the internships. Upon successful completion of the program and State Department requirements, they receive an appointment in the Foreign Service, where they launch an exciting career as an Information Management Specialist. Amgen Scholars Asia Program- Deadline: February 1! Every year, Amgen Scholars provides selected undergraduate students throughout the world with the opportunity to engage in hands-on summer research at many of Asia’s premier educational institutions. Currently, four institutions in Asia host the summer research program: Kyoto University (Japan), National University of Singapore, The University of Tokyo, and Tsinghua University (China). Housing, travel costs, and a generous stipend are provided. Amgen Scholars Asia Program applicants must be undergraduate students who are:
- Enrolled in colleges or universities worldwide that award a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent); and
- At minimum, have completed their first year of undergraduate study at the time the summer program begins, and
- Are not graduating before the summer program begins, and after the summer program ends will resume undergraduate studies for at least one semester
- Interest in pursuing a PhD

Amgen Scholars US Program- Deadline: February 1! Amgen Scholars provides selected US undergraduate students with the opportunity to engage in hands-on summer research. Amgen is hosted at thirteen premier educational institutions within the United States. Each host institution has its own application process. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency in the United States is required, and you can apply to participate at as many host institutions as you are interested in. Columbia University's Summer Program for Under-Represented Students (SPURS) -Deadline: February 15. The SPURS Program is designed to expand the pool of medical and biomedical research applicants from diverse and economically disadvantaged groups whose members have been underrepresented in medicine and biomedical research. Participants live in Columbia dormitories and receive $5,000.00 stipend for living expenses. Eligibility:
- US citizens or permanent residents.
- Undergraduate student. Please note that preference will be given to students who are rising juniors or seniors, GPA of 3.2 or above
- Underrepresented minority students (African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, or Pacific Islander) and/or students from economically or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds (such as first generation college attendee or low income)
- Interested in pursuing graduate education in a biomedical field (MD, MD/PhD, or PhD).

Institute for Responsible Citizenship Washington Program
From hundreds of applications, the Institute selects some of the nation’s best and brightest African American male college students to participate in its Washington Program. It includes High-level internships in their fields of interest, The Lynde and Harry Bradley Seminar on Economic and Constitutional Principles, Comprehensive leadership and professional development workshops, and Private briefings with some of the nation’s most prominent public and private sector leaders. Scholars work full-time during the summer as interns for major educational institutions, businesses, hospitals, law firms, congressional offices, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and news agencies. The paid Summer Associate Program is an inclusive 10-week development program for emerging social justice leaders. Associates learn about issues impacting California and the nation and manage research and advocacy projects under the direction of a Greenlining staff member. Each Summer Associate is paid a stipend of $1,200 every two weeks during the 10-week program. Learn more.
