2024 Gala Honorees Showcase Breadth and Depth of Hebrew College Community
At our Thursday, May 9 Gala “Branching Out, Blossoming Together,” Hebrew College will celebrate three honorees — Jehuda Reinharz, president of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation; Rabbi Adina Allen`14, co-founder of Jewish Studio Project; and David Hoffman, Hebrew College Trustee — whose varied professional intersections with Hebrew College have strengthened our community and enriched Jewish life in Greater Boston and beyond. Each of them, in their own way, has helped build Hebrew College into the vibrant community it is today in 5784, and helped ensure our work will stay creative, meaningful, and accessible well into the future. Rachel Fish, PhD will also receive the College's Esther Award at the event.
Jehuda, Adina, David, and Rachel have each made essential contributions to Hebrew College, and to building the world of wholeness we strive for together as a community. They are models for what we can achieve when we bring the best of ourselves to Jewish work, supporting and supported by a community rooted in gratitude, authenticity, and other pluralistic Jewish values.

PODCAST
Enacting Redemption: Identity/Crisis
Featuring Rabbi Sharon Cohen Anisfeld, President of Hebrew College
Celebrating Jewish redemption on Passover this year feels nearly impossible, while the Israel-Hamas war rages on and so many hostages remain in captivity. Can the Exodus story and the raw pain of the current moment exist together at the seder table? In this podcast episode, host Yehuda Kurtzer of the Hartman Institute turns to Hebrew College President Rabbi Sharon Cohen Anisfeld, to share her thinking on intergenerational disagreements, communal boundaries, prayer, and freedom as we approach the holiday.

“A Newer Lens”: Dignity Project Fellows Q+A
“I have a better understanding of how I fit into the world around me. The world is changing so rapidly, it was great to have this space to sort of re-learn, or consider for the first time, how people approach the world. And how I can be more aware. The Dignity Project helped me realize that what I have to say is important, but what others have to say is really important as well, and that listening can sometimes be a greater power than using your voice. It was a totally unique experience, a space for asking hard questions, taking risks, being vulnerable. It feels impossible, but it actually exists!” — Grace, 2023-2024 Dignity Project Fellow

Healing the Affliction of Isolation
In a college creative writing class I had a professor tell me during a workshop that I am “obsessed with space.” Everything I handed in for his class was disproportionately focused on describing the home and other private spaces in great detail. I had not realized I’d been doing it, but once I saw it I couldn’t stop seeing it. In every facet of my life, I realized, I am primarily oriented towards the safety of private space. Tzara'at, a mysterious affliction described in this week’s parashah, Metzora, shares my spatial orientation.
