Our Wednesday Night Re:Treat  resumes tonight. Come enjoy a fellowship meal of poppyseed chicken in the worship center at 5:45 pm followed by activities for all ages at 6:20 pm. We will kick off our Wednesday night activities with another round of Bingo! Leadership Board will also have their monthly meeting following dinner at 6:20 in the Garden Room.

For our first few Wednesday nights we will have some cross-generational activities so we can get a gauge of who is attending, Jennifer can make plans for our Kids and new Bridge cohort, and we can get some things in place for our youth while our search continues for a director.
Wednesday, September 10: Bingo for all ages
Wednesday, September 17: Intergenerational Table Talk
Wednesday, September 24: Change of plans! We are moving Trivia Night and instead Adults and Youth (and possibly Bridge) will remain in the worship center for a presentation from Branden Henry and Christina Dent on addiction and harm reduction. See next week's newsletter for more informaiton.
PHUMC Kids (4th grade and under) will meet with Jennifer following dinner September 24 for their own time of fun!
Don't forget to reserve your place at Wednesday September 17 supper (Italian night!!) by tearing off the reservation form in Sunday's bulletin and placing it in the offering basket, by using this link ,or by calling or emailing the office by noon on Monday.
Big House Books, one of our partner ministries, is a non-profit, volunteer organization that sends free books by request to prisoners in MS correctional facilities in order to promote literacy and be a vehicle of change for prison reform.  Parkway Hills aids Big House Books through book collection (see the information in the foyer of the Education Building), by funding and hosting packing parties, and through individual volunteers. Mary Lee Reed will be attending Big House Books to volunteer following worship Sunday, September 14 if you would like to join her. For more information about Big House Books click here or reach out to Mary Lee Reed .
The annual Women Build for Habitat for Humanity MS Capital Area is underway and they are in need of some help to fill their remaining shifts.  Parkway Hills has signed up for Saturday, September 27 from 12:45 to 4:00 pm.  We need 9 more volunteers (women or men) to fulfill our obligation.  As a reminder, ages 16 and 17 may volunteer with parental consent. The site is located at 762 Cedarhurst Road in Jackson. You can meet us at the site at 12:45 September 27 or at Parkway Hills at 12:20 to carpool. We are projected to be doing exterior painting. Click here, or see the clipboard in the back of the worship center to sign up.
Our Wednesday night book club resumes October 1 at 6:20 pm with David P. Gushee's The Moral Teachings of Jesus. I went to a workshop using this book and led by Gushee at the Festival of Homiletics this past May and was impressed by his faith and sincere desire to find a way for our faith to meet the division of our time through the person and work and words of Jesus. I hope you order a book, start reading, and join us when you are able.

We are doing it a little differently this time. We will have four meetings instead of one. Discussion of Part One will take place Wednesday, October 1, Part Two Wednesday, October 22, Part Three Wednesday, October 29, and we will finish it out Wednesday, November 5 with Parts Four and Five of the book.

Our children's ministry began a new curriculum Sunday during Sunday School. Big Faith takes children through Bible stories using hands-on activities, child-friendly themes, and includes
at-home connections. Children 4th grade and under meet in the Garden room at 9:30 am each Sunday before dividing into age-appropriate rooms for a deeper dive into the lesson.
Be sure to pick up your faith-home connection sheet in the foyer of the Worship Center, by the kid's activity bags. This enables the kids to share what they're learning in Sunday School with the whole family.
We always need volunteers to aid with our kids ministry. For more information about any of our kids ministry events contact Jennifer.
*All volunteers must submit a background check before volunteering with children and youth.

(Photos) Late night fun for PHUMC Youth followed the Madison Central and Germantown football games Friday night at PHUMC's 5th Quarter Party. A faithful group of chaperones stayed up past their bedtimes to feed and host the Youth. A big thanks goes out to Kari Miller for serving as PartyMaster and making it happen!
Happening soon:
Sunday, September 14: Engage 5:30-7:30
Sunday, September 21: Host Home Gathering at the Henry home where we will dive into discussion around unhealthy relationships.
Sunday, September 28: Pizza and Game Night. It would be a great night to invite a friend.

The dream of PHUMC Beds for Kids Ministry is that every child has his or her own bed. This year the ministry has expanded to include other churches in the Madison area to help with funding, building, and delivering the beds, fully outfitted with new mattresses, pillows, and linens.

The September Communion Offering supports the Beds for Kids Ministry. Our funds are running low as we have the wonderful problem of so many beds being assembled and delivered recently.

If you would like to help with the Beds for Kids Ministry in any way, contact
