Instructors Can Now Begin Building Spring Courses in Canvas |
As Spring 2024 courses begin to appear in Canvas, now is a great time to start learning how to use Canvas and preparing content for next term! Review Preparing for Spring 2024 for all the information you need to get started.
We strongly encourage all instructors to make the transition to Canvas for Spring. Our early adopters report that Canvas is easier to use than Sakai and the process of migrating previous course content is simple. Additionally, the majority of students are already using Canvas and thus will be familiar with it in the Spring.
There are currently two paths for building your course in Canvas:
|
-
Build in Canvas: Once a course appears in your dashboard, you can create content directly in the course site and then publish when it is ready.
-
Migrate from Sakai: You can request to have content migrated from Sakai into Canvas. Then you will then be able to edit the migrated content before copying it into an active course site and publishing it when ready.
|
You must be listed in DukeHub as an instructor of record before you will see your course(s) in Canvas.

"There was an issue that I really needed to find the answer to so I tried [the 24/7 service] out. At first I thought it was a robot but actually I got a real person. In a few minutes we figured out the solution to my issue. It was a little thing that would have taken me much longer to dig through documentation so I was really happy with that experience."
