Mandatory Pre-Entrance Health and Health Insurance Requirements | May 21, 2024

Hello Parents and Families!

To maintain the health of our Jumbo Herd, we have several pre-entrance health requirements that your student needs to complete and health insurance requirements. They also received an email today with the information below.

We ask that you and your student pay attention to these deadlines, as missing them could result in a hold on their class registration or additional charges that cannot be refunded. 

Health and Wellness Administration and Operations Director Jennifer Berrios explains the pre-entrance health requirements in this week's featured video.

As highlighted in the video, the following must be completed by July 1, 2024.*

*If your student does not complete the Health History Form, TB Risk Questionnaire, and provide documentation of their immunizations by July 1, there will be a hold placed on their Student Information System (SIS) account and they will not be able to register for classes until these forms are completed and reviewed.

Either waive student health insurance with your existing policy or your student will be automatically enrolled. If your student already has comparable health insurance and you do not waive the student health insurance by July 31, 2024, you will be charged for this year. 

The form to waive the health insurance will be available June 1 on your student's Student Information System (SIS). Disenrollment and refunds are not available after July 31.

(Optional) Tuition Insurance: Available later this summer on the A.W.G. Dewar website. Enrollment must be before the first day of classes on September 3, 2024.

We will also offer tips on how you can best support your student's transition to college. (This webinar is for parents and families only. Students have been invited to a June 4 welcome webinar.) Academic Kick-off webinar with your student's Advising Dean and Senior Academic Advisors for their degree program. Parents and families are welcome! Register and submit any questions in advance.

Thursday, June 20, 9 a.m. ET – Introduction to the International Center
This session provides important information for incoming international students and their parents and families. Register and submit any questions in advance.

FYI...Your students have been invited to a May 22 webinar hosted by members of the Residential Life team and Student Accessibility and Academic Resources (StAAR) Center team that will cover everything they need to know about on-campus housing and accommodations.
