Educator Update

Hello 4-H Families,

I hope April finds you happy and healthy! Dunn County 4-H had a busy month last month. I enjoyed seeing many of you at a project meeting, club meeting, and Battle of the Clubs! If you attended a county-wide event, I hope you and your kids were able to meet some new families and make new friends.

As you are probably aware, I will be on paternity leave for much the next two months. My email will not be checked and the 4-H cellphone will be turned off. However, Deanna and Ann will be available to assist you with your 4-H questions. We have created a Google form to help collect questions and get them answered quickly. I have linked the form at the end of my update. Please use it whenever you need assistance.

Camp Orientation Zoom

Are you interested in attending 4-H camp but would like more information? The Eau Claire and Clark County Educators will host a camp orientation Zoom meeting on April 15 at 6 PM. They will discuss camp procedures, activities, and logistics. There will also be an open time for you to ask questions before the camp registration deadline.

County T-Shirt Design Contest

Get ready to unleash your creativity! We're excited to announce our first Dunn County 4-H T-shirt Design Contest! This is your chance to showcase your artistic talents and create a unique design that represents the spirit of Dunn County 4-H. The winning design will be featured on our new Dunn County 4-H T-shirts for the year. Submissions are open until May 19th. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

4-H Softball

Volunteers are gearing up for another exciting summer of 4-H Softball! 4-H Softball is a great way to get to know youth from around the County. They games are very low pressure and always include a lot of laughs!

The Juniors (8-12 years old) will be playing on Sunday nights and Seniors (13 years old and up) will be playing on Tuesday nights. Check facebook, email, and the Clover Courier for a schedule with specific dates and times.

UW-Stout Robotics Day!

When: April 26th from 9:45am – 2pm. Lunch will be included.
Cost: Free
Who: Youth in Grades 6 and up
Where: UW-Stout's Vocational Rehabilitation Building at 221 10th Ave E, Menomonie, WI.

Get ready for an exciting day of hands-on STEM exploration and collaboration at UW-Stout! Thanks to an Xcel Energy Foundation Award, this free event gives youth in grades 6-12 the opportunity to build, code, and innovate together through robotics, coding, and 3D printing.

Build & Code a Robot: Work in teams to assemble and program a robot while making new friends!
Design with 3D Printing: Create custom parts and watch them take shape in UW-Stout’s Fab Lab.
Explore Engineering Labs: Tour state-of-the-art labs, explore real-world engineering applications, and get inspired by hands-on innovation.
Lunch & Learn: Enjoy a free lunch while discovering UW-Stout’s exciting STEM opportunities and networking with peers

Cat Project Meeting- Rescheduled!

We have rescheduled the Cat Project Meeting for Sunday, April 27th from 2-4pm in room 60 of the County Government Center.

We would like to invite all 4-H members (including Cloverbuds) to come explore the Cat Project! Volunteers will be sharing their experience with the project, and leading the youth in making a cat toy. Please fill out this form if you are interesting in attending.

Summer Camp Registration Open

June 9-12th
Kamp Kenwood and Lake Wissota State Park, Chippewa Falls
Cost: Covered by Leaders Council
Grades 3-9 (for 2024-25 school year)

Registration is open for Summer Camp! The Dunn County Leaders council will once again be sponsoring ALL Dunn County 4-H Youth! This means that your child can go to camp with no cost to you! Youth in grades 3-6 will be at base camp at KampKenwood while youth in grades 7-9 will be at Lake Wissota State Park for an Outpost Camp experience. Register on 4-H online by April 20th!

Summer Academy

Registration is open for youth in Grades 8-11 for Summer Academy 2025! This event will take place from June 16-19, 2025! . Youth will get the chance to meet new friends and explore potential career and college opportunities in a track of their choice! Youth will also get to explore Madison, stay in a college dorm at Sellery Hall, and participate in fun activities like the dance and Drama Company performance.

Summer Project Days- Save the Date

Get ready for the 2025 Dunn County Summer Project Days! This year we will be featuring Farm to Fork: Agriculture Education, Miniature Gardens, Legos, and Nutrition and Healthly Cooking! The Project Days will be held each Tuesday from 2-4pm starting on June 17th and ending on July 8th. Youth in grades 3-6 are invited to attend. Older youth will have the opportunity to participate as Youth Leaders.

New this year, we will be offering special Cloverbud programing from 12:30-1:30pm before the Project Days! Registration and more details will be available in next month's newsletter.

County-Wide Meetings and Events

County-Wide Project meetings are open to any 4-H member who meets the age criteria. If you are unsure about adding a project area, these meetings are an excellent way to explore and learn more. Reach out to the extension office or project leaders for more information.

Projects can be added any time before May 1st in 4honline.com.

Support Opportunities

Trip Funding

The Dunn County Leaders Council is excited to help fund your 4-H trip or activity! The Leaders Council is committed to funding 25% of all state and national trips and activities. The Leaders Council may fund at greater amounts depending on the number of participants and budgetary allowances.

Youth Support Fund

The Youth Support Fund is largely supported by donations from community members and businesses. Its purpose is to reduce the cost barrier associated with 4-H events and activities. If you are planning to participate in a 4-H event and feel like you could benefit from this fund, reach out to the extension office at zachary.rozmiarek@wisc.edu for more information.
