The new year brings about a time for reflection and a time for resolutions. While we face 2025 with many uncertainties, we know that our mission to continue serving folks in their literacy and educational journeys will not change. We are resolved as ever to keep supporting some of our community's most vulnerable people. Thank you for helping to support LVCA's mission. Through your generosity, as a donor, volunteer, or subscriber, you are helping keep our vital services in the Commonwealth.
I especially want to thank each and every donor who gave to our matching gift challenge, and I am proud to announce that we exceeded our challenge! We asked, you gave, and together, we received the $25,000 matching gifts! Thank you! However, we are still working to meet our budgetary goal for individual giving for the fiscal year ending in June. Any extra help will offset potential budgetary shortfalls from local, state, and federal grants.
We are grateful that we get to serve our community. Here's to continuing our mission in 2025!
Yours in literacy, Ellen M. Osborne, Executive Director

With the new year, brings a countdown to Wordplay 2025! On Thursday, April 24, join LVCA at the Paramount Theater for our annual team-based trivia fundraiser. There's still time to get an early bird registration! Sign your team up by January 31 for $600; after that, team registration starts at $750.
Want to join in on the fun, but don't want a team? Audience tickets will soon be available for $20.
Wordplay is LVCA's only fundraising event of the year, and we can't do it without community support. A few key current needs are:
- Raffle items. Do you own or work for a business who might donate something for our raffle? Are you interested in soliciting items? Please reach out to Rebecca.
- Photographer. We are actively looking for volunteer photographers to capture the event. If you, or someone you know, might be interested in donating their services, please reach out to Rebecca.
- Sponsorship. Is your organization or company interested in sponsoring a team at Wordplay? Team sponsorship can be an excellent way to support a great cause, network, and create team building. If you are interested in sponsoring a team or have any ideas for sponsorship leads, please reach out to Ellen.
We cannot wait for Wordplay 2025! We hope to see you there!
