Thanks to 17 young ladies from William Penn's Air Force Jr. ROTC, 17 food for those in need was packed at the Food Bank of Delaware. Their efforts helped support 200 families during these difficult times, especially around the holidays. WE encourage community service in Colonial Nation!

Wilbur teacher Angel Cassetta spearheaded a food drive with her 4th-grade Spanish Immersion students. The children collected and donated non-perishable food items to The Northern Star's Children's Foundation. The Foundation serves high-needs/high-risk children and young adults who have been affected by adverse experiences like homelessness and foster care. What a wonderful way to show the Wildcats care!

Colonial Nutrition Services Supervisor Amanda Nask presented Wilbur Baker Cindy Smith with the Nutrition Services Kudos Certificate of Achievement last month. Cindy was recognized "for demonstrating the Power of WE through her positive attitude and willingness to lend a hand when needed, wherever needed, in the Wilbur kitchen".

The Nutrition Services Division looks forward to recognizing many more dedicated, passionate team members who give their all for our students. That's what WE do!

Joseph Davis (second from the left), a  beloved custodian at Leach attended the statewide banquet hosted by the Department of Education (DOE) for being the district's selected  Educational Support Professional of the Year. Davis is pictured with DOE Secretary Mark Holodick (first on left), along with other state officials. Congrats!

Rehearsals for the spring production of The Lion King Jr. are underway now at Gunning Bedford Middle School. Stay tuned for show dates. WE can't wait to see what our talented students do on stage!

Former All-American and ex-Cincinnati Bengals defense end Devon Still stopped by at a William Penn wrestling practice to say hello. His words of encouragement to the team really meant a lot and greatly impacted the students. Thank you Devon Still, coach Joe Archangelo appreciated the special visit as much as his kids! 

McCullough students in Mr. Jones' 6th-grade class had the opportunity to visit the Delaware Museum of Nature & Science. They learned all about cycles - life cycles, the fossil cycle, and the water cycle - while having fun and exploring the museum!

Students in Ms. Snyder’s 3rd-grade class had a presenter from the Winterthur Museum come and talk to them about President George Washington’s life and family. The kids enjoyed the visit and putting on a few costume pieces for the occasion.

Many schools around the district hold door decorating contests, but every year none come close to the annual colorful creations by William Penn art teacher Kim Davis who always makes a holiday masterpiece! Nice job Ms. Davis and everyone else who participates!

From ugly sweaters to holiday head cheer and wearing all things plaid, students and staff around the district are having plenty of fun before the Winter Break!

Santa arrived at Leach by a chopper today thanks to the US Coast Guard. This annual tradition is much anticipated by students and staff especially since most of these medically fragile children can't go to places like a mall to see Santa Claus. WE thank the US Coast Guard for making a special trip for our very special students, and Santa for taking the extra time that's needed to take individual and class photos with our kiddos.

Maliha Samuels, a 4th-grade student at Pleasantville, designed a holiday picture that was reproduced and sent to all staff as a greeting card. WE want to wish everyone Happy Holidays!
