October 8, Robert Ramirez, DO, FACP, medical oncologist, has clinical and research interests in neuroendocrine tumors of the lung including DIPNECH, typical and atypical carcinoids, as well as lung cancer, specifically non-small cell and small cell cancers. Dr. Ramirez splits his clinical and research duties between the Ochsner Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Program & the Ochsner Kenner/LSU Multidisciplinary Neuroendocrine Clinic. He is active in clinical trial design as well as teaching.
October 15, Steve Mazan, stand-up comedian, inspirational speaker, and 15-year NET cancer survivor. Upon being diagnosed, Steve decided to dedicate himself to reaching his longtime dream of performing on The Late Show with David Letterman. Steve’s inspiring story of battling cancer while trying to reach his ultimate dream of performing on The Late Show lead to an award-winning documentary entitled “Dying to Do Letterman,” which aired country-wide and is available on iTunes and Amazon.
October 22, Pat & Chuck Murphy. It was 2004 and Pat and Chuck were preparing to move to a new home – life was good, personally and professionally. Then Pat suddenly developed what the doctor thought was bronchitis. When she went into heart failure they discovered a neuroendocrine tumor on her bronchus. Chuck became the researcher, the person Pat could turn to for answers, for emotional support, for loving care; he is her advocate.
