Good Evening:
Northeast
In the 1990s, Stan Whippo became a volunteer at what was then Northeast Indiana Public Radio's WBNI (89.1fm, Fort Wayne), hosting classical music shows. The classical programming on WBNI (and the WBNI call letters) moved twice; now, they're on the 94.1fm (Class A) allocation, licensed to Roanoke, which "NIPR" purchased in 2007 for $1.75 million. Now in his early 90s, he will retire from WBNI ("Classical 94.1"). Last year, colleague Julia Meek interviewed Mr. Whippo, and you can hear that conversation.
Central
Emmis Communications/Indianapolis makes several promotions:
David Wood becomes Director of Programming, along with continued PD responsibilities over N-T/WIBC (93.1fm, Indianapolis). Matt Hibbeln becomes APD of WIBC.
Sean Copeland earns a promotion to PD of Light AC/WYXB (105.7fm, Indianapolis), and he will still host mornings. Finally, as we reported in August, Eric Allen is the MD and afternoon host at WYXB ("B105.7.")
South Madison Community School's CHR/WEEM (91.7fm, Pendleton) GM Chris Green adds upgraded digital equipment to both their live studio and production room. Last week, WEEM held an open house for donors, underwriters, and listeners. WEEM has 80 students participating this school year.
Radio One's CHR/WNOW-FM (100.9fm, Speedway) welcomes "Porkchop" (Garrett Kozden) as morning show executive producer to "The Joe and Alex Show." Among Mr. Kozden's broadcasting stops: New York (intern/nights at the former 92.3 NOW), San Diego (co-host/producer in mornings at Z90), and Portland, Oregon (morning show producer at 98.7 The Bull). Most recently, he worked for Dom Theodore in Cadillac, Michigan, hosting afternoons at WCDY.
