| |
Welcome to the 2018 Summer Show Season! Signs-ups start TODAY, TUESDAY MAY 22nd at 7PM and are first-come, first-served. We will also post a link to the sign-up form on our Facebook Page and in our current season Facebook groups, as well.
REMEMBER: YOU MUST SELECT TWO DIFFERENT SHOW OPTIONS!
Failure to do so will move you to the bottom of the casting list for first choices. WHY do we dot his? Because ultimately we need to be able to balance the instruments and skill levels in the shows. So, if you are, for example the 10th guitar player to sign up for a show and we only have 9 guitar slots, we need to know where we can put you. Got it? Great!
Below are the show descriptions to help you make your choices! All show rehearsals are 6PM to 8:30PM. Rehearsals begin the week of June 18th.

WeezerMondays with Travis, 6-8:30pm Weezer is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1992. Weezer released their debut self-titled album, also known as the "Blue Album", in 1994. Backed by successful music videos for the singles "Buddy Holly", "Undone – The Sweater Song" and "Say It Ain't So", the Blue Album became a quadruple-platinum success. In 2001, Weezer returned with another self-titled album, also known as the "Green Album", with new bassist Mikey Welsh. With a more pop sound, and promoted by singles "Hash Pipe" and "Island in the Sun", the album was a commercial success and received mostly positive reviews. Weezer has been described as alternative rock, power pop, pop punk, emo, pop rock, indie rock, emo pop, geek rock, and pop. The members of Weezer have listed several influences, among them Kiss (with direct references in the song "In the Garage"), Nirvana (who were labelmates of the band at DGC for a very brief time), the Pixies (especially early in the band's career), the Cars (Ric Ocasek has even produced several of Weezer's records), Pavement, Oasis, Green Day and Wax. Cuomo credited the Beach Boys as a major influence, specifically Pet Sounds, describing Weezer's sound as "Beach Boys with Marshall stacks."

The KillersTuesdays with Dante, 6-8:30pm The Killers are an American rock band formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2001. The band's name is derived from a logo on the bass drum of a fictitious band portrayed in the music video for the New Order song "Crystal". The band has released five consecutive chart-topping studio albums: Hot Fuss (2004), Sam's Town (2006), Day & Age (2008), Battle Born (2012) and Wonderful Wonderful (2017). They have also released a B-sides and rarities compilation, Sawdust (2007); a live album, Live from the Royal Albert Hall (2009); a greatest-hits album, Direct Hits (2013); and a Christmas compilation, Don't Waste Your Wishes (2016). The Killers are seen as one of the biggest rock bands of the 21st century, and the most successful act to ever emerge from Nevada. They achieved worldwide success as a live band, performing in over 50 countries and on six continents, headlining venues such as Madison Square Garden and Wembley Stadium.

Warped TourWednesdays with Mike, 6-8:30pm The Warped Tour is a traveling rock tour that has toured the United States annually each summer since 1995. It is the largest traveling music festival in the United States, and is the longest-running touring music festival in North America. The first Warped Tour took place in 1995, and the skateboard shoe manufacturer Vans became the main sponsor of the tour starting with the second tour in 1996, when it became known as the Vans Warped Tour. Warped Tour was conceived as an eclectic alternative rock festival, but in 1996 began focusing on punk rock music. Although it has continued to be known primarily as a punk rock festival, it has included acts of diverse genres over the years. The 2018 Vans Warped Tour will be the final, full cross-country run. There are too many great bands to list, but you can check out the line-ups by year HERE!

MTV UnpluggedThursdays with Jess, 6-8:30pm
MTV Unplugged was an American television series on MTV showcasing musical artists usually playing acoustic instruments. The show aired regularly from 1989 to 1999. Many of the artists who appeared on the show in the 1990s released their Unplugged session as an album, and some of these albums were commercial and critical hits. Eric Clapton's Unplugged (1992) sold 26 million copies worldwide and remains the best-selling live album of all time. Other Unplugged albums that went platinum include Nirvana's MTV Unplugged in New York (1994), Alice in Chains's Unplugged (1996), Shakira's MTV Unplugged (1999 - platinum in the Latin market), Lauryn Hill's MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 (2001) and Alicia Keys' Unplugged (2005). Some of these albums produced successful singles as well. In 1993, Stone Temple Pilots filmed an episode of MTV Unplugged, where they debuted the song "Big Empty". Irish rock band The Cranberries recorded a live acoustic performance in front of an audience at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City. Along with a string ensemble, the band played nine songs, three of which were unreleased material at that time.
