Fort Wayne classical radio listeners recently lost a station voice. Stan Whippo was a frequently heard voice on Northeast Indiana Public Radio's WBOI (89.1fm-HD2, Fort Wayne), as a volunteer announcer. Stan died last month at age 94. Fountain Warren Community Radio's Variety/WFWR (91.5fm, Attica) had their tower destroyed last month during a storm. WFWR signed on in 2000. WFWR later posted on social media that they have a few offers to put their antenna on a different tower. For now, WFWR remains silent on 91.5fm, but streams online. Nexstar's FOX affiliate WXIN-TV (Channel 59, Indianapolis) and CBS affiliate WTTV-TV (Channel 4, Bloomington)/WTTK-TV (Channel 29, Kokomo) Assistant News Director Maureen Jennings Caruso will exit and join crosstown Scripps' ABC affiliate/WRTV-TV (Channel 6, Indianapolis) as their next News Director. Ms. Caruso succeeds Terri Cope-Walton who exited WRTV-TV after over 20 years there. On Monday (11/15), Ms. Cope-Walton will begin as VP/GM at Graham Media's WJXT/WCWJ, both in Jacksonville, Florida.
TEGNA's NBC affiliate/WTHR-TV (Channel 13, Indianapolis) welcomes Cierra Putnam as a '13 Investigates' reporter. Ms. Putnam last worked for WFTV-TV in Orlando, Florida.
Sarkes Tarzian's AAA/WTTS (92.3fm, Trafalgar) has several changes. Let's break them down. First, PD and afternoon host Laura Duncan exits for the PD chair at WXRT in Chicago. Succeeding Ms. Duncan is Lenny Diana, who last worked for Saga Communications, as OM of their WAQY and WLZX in Springfield, Massachusetts. Next month, Mr. Diana will also add oversight of sister Alternative/WGBJ (102.3fm, Auburn) in the Fort Wayne radio market. Next, MD and midday host Amber Hoback exits WTTS, and joins WNRN in the Charlottesville, Virginia market, in the same roles. Pete Kilmer moves into the midday role at WTTS. Mr. Kilmer worked for Clear Channel (later iHeartMedia) in Indianapolis. Finally, Brian Green is the new GSM for WTTS. Mr. Green last worked for Saga Communications, leading (GM) their six station Champaign, Illinois cluster. Mr. Green succeeds Tony Severino, who returns to the WTTS sales staff.
Former WTTV-TV (Channel 4, Bloomington) VP/Station Manager Don Tillman died. He was 81. Mr. Tillman started in broadcasting as a DJ at WMRI-FM (106.9fm) in Marion. After graduating from Northwestern University, Mr. Tillman worked at WTAF-TV (then on Channel 31) and WQAD-TV in the Quad Cities. Then, he worked at WTTV and then KTTV-TV in Los Angeles in 1983 (VP of Programming and Production). He was inducted into the Indiana Broadcast Pioneers. Here's the complete obituary.
Emmis/Indianapolis Director of promotions and events Lisa Wall exits the cluster. Ms. Wall joined Emmis in 2006 and ascended to this role in 2015. While Emmis searches for a successor, cluster promotions director Krystal Keithley will be Emmis' contact for the department.
Moody Radio's WGNR(AM) and WGNR-FM (1470am, 97.9fm; both Anderson) hires Devon Harris as Production Director.
Former WRTV-TV News Director Steve Hinkle died. He most recently worked for AVID as a project engineer.
Where Are They Now? Former WISH-TV Assistant News Director Andrew Gillfillan now is Assistant News Director at WFOR-TV in Miami, Florida.

November 14: In 1960, 1550am in New Castle signs on as WCTW. Today, it's WLTI. In 2012, former WIKY/Evansville PD Mark Baker died at age 57.
November 15: In 1984, 103.1fm then licensed to Versailles signs on as WOVR (Osgood Versailles Ripley. Osgood and Versailles both sit in Ripley County.) It's now licensed to Columbus on 102.9fm as WXCH.
November 16: In 1932, WCMA(AM) (1400am, Culver) signs off.
November 17: In 1958, 91.7fm in South Bend signs on as WETL ('We Educate Tomorrow's Leaders'), and still is. In 1987, Sarkes Tarzian died. Age 87.
November 18: In 1931, 1340am in Elkhart signs on as WTRC ('Truth Radio Corporation'), and still is. In 1956, 1400am in St. Joseph, Michigan signs on as WSJM ('St. Joseph, Michigan'), and still is. In 2008, radio broadcaster Ken Knapp died at age 47. Mr. Knapp worked in Fort Wayne, Lafayette, and Warsaw.
November 19: In 2007, WIAU (95.9fm, Franklin) flipped format from Oldies to talk, as WFDM ('Freedom 95.9')
November 20: In 1989, 107.9fm in Washington signs on as WAMW-FM, and returned to those call letters in October 2001.
