TC leads in STEM education with new Project Lead The Way partnership

A pioneering new partnership between Ball State University Teachers College and Project Lead The Way will create exciting new opportunities for students, faculty, and staff, and help drive innovation in education. This Fall, the organization is teaming up with Teachers College to pilot the nation’s first PLTW Pre-Service Teacher Preparation Program.

Students interact with children at Camp Achieve

Compassion is key to autism summer camp’s success

Camp Achieve, a six-week day camp for children ages 6 to 12, is run by Ball State’s Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder (CASD) on the Burris Laboratory School campus each summer. The camp’s intensive focus on improving academic, social, and behavioral skills through individualized learning plans sets it apart from other camps for kids with autism.

Four Teachers College alumni have been named to the Indiana Department of Education’s Teacher of the Year Program’s Top Thirty Nominees. Congratulations to Stephanie Coleman, Adam Ferguson, Amber Kosar, and Katie Pourcho!
For the second consecutive year, Ball State’s Teachers College was host to 50 middle school students and their teachers who participated in the Migrant Education S.T.E.M. Technology Summit. The three-day program was a partnership between Teachers College and the Indiana Department of Education Migrant Education Program.
Two immersive learning projects saw Teachers College students and faculty bring unique camp experiences to area children this summer—the High Riding Art, Science, and Equestrian Day Camp in Blackford County and Summer Learning Fun at Camp Adventure in Muncie.
This Summer, Teachers College named three faculty members to new leadership positions in the college—Kendra Lowery to assistant dean for school engagement, Susan Tancock to associate dean for undergraduate and graduate studies, and David Mcintosh to associate dean for faculty affairs and strategic initiatives.
