A Message From the CEO

THE Y IS A SAFE PLACE FOR ALL

“Institutional racism has been allowed to fester and grow, largely ignored by a surrounding culture in which white privilege and indifference has exacerbated long-standing social and economic inequities among people of color. Recent events underscore that these injustices have exerted deep pain and violence against people of color in our communities, especially African Americans. I’m proud that our YMCA is dedicated to confronting institutional racism and complicity in our community. We can and must do better.”
Alan Hardcastle, YMCA Board of Trustees

NEW BOARD MEMBERS BRING PASSION AND DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES TO SOUTH SOUND YMCA

For over 170 years, local YMCAs have been gathering places, convening forces that help to strengthen and heal communities during challenging times. Amid the current national discord and civil unrest, it is more important than ever to provide a safe place for people to come together, regardless of background, race, color, creed, national origin or gender identity. To do this work requires a diverse, engaged and thoughtful board of trustees.
