Captain's Message
Captain Derrick Lew
Hello Ingleside Community!
On January 29, 2022, I was assigned as the Captain of Ingleside Station, and I am truly excited to serve this community. I started my career as an officer here, and I have always appreciated the diverse and unique neighborhoods, as well as the dedicated and knowledgeable officers, in this district. A little about myself: I am a native San Franciscan, grew up in the Taraval District, and have many friends and family who live in the community. Upon graduation from the Police Academy, I was initially assigned to Ingleside Station, and subsequently had patrol assignments at Bayview and Mission Stations, as well as investigative assignments at the Special Investigations Division and the Violence Reduction Team. After being promoted to Sergeant, I was assigned to Central Station as an investigator, the Bayview Station Street Crimes Unit, and later to the Narcotics Detail. As a Lieutenant, I had a brief stay at Ingleside Station before being assigned to the Investigations Bureau’s Crime Gun Investigations Center.
I am honored to return in the role of Captain, and I am committed to partnering with you to improve overall public safety in the Ingleside District.
