Ashley Sauer Brings Stand Out Service to Sit Down Dining
Ashley Sauer (she/her) with The Country Cat, was nominated by two different PDX travelers.
1. "We dined at The Country Cat once before, with Ashley as our server, and were hoping to see her again on this trip. To our delight, she was working. Ashley’s warm greeting and genuine smile are always appreciated and the level of customer service she provides is exceptional. During our meal, I asked if peanut butter was available. Ashley was incredibly pleasant and let me know she’d do her best to find some. She actually found some, and I was able to enjoy a delicious breakfast thanks to her extra effort. Cheers to a wonderful employee who loves her work. It shows in everything she does."
2. "Ashley had amazing recommendations, and her hospitality made me feel so welcomed. I unfortunately missed my flight and had to wait for the next one, but I couldn’t have asked for a better experience while I waited. I’d recommend her not only because of her ability to connect with people, but also because of her knowledge of the food and drinks. 12/10 would recommend!"

What's New with PDX Next: Alaska Ticket Counter and June Forum
Alaska Ticket Counter: Now through Thursday, June 19, crews will be scanning and surveying for core locations at ticket island 3. This work will close two to three counter positions on island 3. During this time, Alaska Airlines will operate out of three counter positions on ticket island 4, next to Hawaiian Airlines.
NE Airport Way: Resurfacing work on NE Airport Way begins today and will continue through early September. Drivers should expect lane closures and traffic detours for the westbound lanes, including at the entrances to the parking garages. The most significant impacts are expected now through the end of July.
June Forum: Mark your calendar for Tuesday, June 24, to get the inside scoop on Phase 2 of construction at PDX. The Port of Portland's Jen Guild, along with Joe Brower of Hoffman-Skanska, will share the latest construction updates and answer your questions about PDX Next in just 30 minutes. If you'd like to join this meeting, email PDX People Communications for the link before next Monday, June 23.

Be Knowledgeable: Accessing Bag Road
As you’ve probably noticed, bag tunnel and main bag road are busy places. To help keep everyone safe, we’re making a change to pedestrian access to main bag road.
Door T18760 (in baggage claim) is now restricted to emergency responders and a few other groups with a critical need to use it. Why? Because it leads right into the middle of main bag road – a high-traffic area that’s a safety concern for pedestrians.
Instead, we’re asking everyone to use the north and south ends of main bag road. These areas are set up with important safety features like signs, stop bars, pedestrian gates, and mirrors to help improve visibility for both pedestrians and drivers.
Check out the map to see the best routes to use. Thanks for doing your part to keep PDX a safe place to work.

Fast Company: PDX Makes List of 2025 World Changing Ideas
Fast Company’s annual World Changing Ideas Awards honor businesses and organizations driving meaningful change in the world…and PDX landed a spot on the list for 2025! A team of experts assessed each application based on criteria that include impact, design, scalability, and ingenuity, and called out how the airport is designed to bring the forest canopy inside, powered in part by geothermal energy, and filled with shops that are 100% local. To PDX employees, union crews, local makers, tribal partners, architects, and community collaborators: thank you. You’re the reason our local airport keeps getting global recognition.

PDX in Pictures
Our recent Passport to Inclusion event gave travelers with disabilities and their families or companions the chance to experience air travel in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Participants practiced nearly every step of the journey at PDX – from entering the airport and going through security to taxiing on the runway to simulate a real flight.
These kinds of experiences can help reduce the anxiety and uncertainty that often come with travel, especially for those with cognitive or developmental disabilities. They also help us continue building a more inclusive airport experience for all.
A big thank you to the Autism Society of Oregon, Icelandair, TSA, and all our partners who helped make this event possible. Your support plays a key role in creating a more welcoming and accessible airport for everyone.
