Eyes Ahead
Did your company and staff meet your targets and primary goals 2013? Were you able to determine areas for improvement and action items to implement for your 2014 plan? Maybe it's just me, but it seems like only moments ago I was reviewing 2012 and setting the plan for 2013...

This past year may have seemed like a whirlwind because our industry is changing at such an incredible pace. On the facility side - members' needs and wants are morphing and branching out in many directions. Popular fitness actitivities continue to change and expectations for technology and entertainment options grow. Members are identifying their ideal ratio of amenities-to-membership fees. All of these variables have forced us to take the time to focus and re-examine our business to determine if current plans remain capable of meeting performance expectations.

Matrix consistently analyzes all trends -  asking "how" and "why" people want to workout. We listen to you, your staff, your members, and service technicians to develop the products and technologies that help motivate and enable results for all stakeholders. Evidence of this concept's success shows in our commercial growth of 23% in North America, with an increase of 12% globally - identifying Matrix as the fastest-growing commercial fitness brand for the past 4+ years.
As we look ahead at 2014, we will continue to help sift through industry changes and expectations to provide you with a clearer path towards sustainable growth in your facility!

PT Studio Testimonial for the Krankcycle
For the past 14 years I have been a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and fitness director for a large athletic club in the Santa Barbara area. All the while I have maintained a separate fitness business. Part of maintaining relevancy in our industry is discerning how to bring change to our community. Many times this results in looking for new tools to include in my services. My goal with the incorporation of new fitness elements is to make sure I can envision using them consistently - with an impact - for many years to come. It is important to my business, my clients, and my credibility that I not offer fads, gimmicks, or temporary variables purely for the sake of adding something new.
About a year ago I was fortunate enough to be exposed to the Johnny G Krankcycle® by Matrix. I had been aware of it for quite some time, but had never had the opportunity to use it. I immediately recognized a solution to my problem of evolving several areas of my programming. The Krankcycle not only met a practical solution of additional variability, but it also felt good, was challenging, and biomechanically brilliant. During my first few minutes on the Krankcycle, I recognized three distinct areas where I could implement it into my business.

First, and the most obvious, was the addition of the Krankcycle as a tool for my athletes that need the variable change, increased upper body endurance, and maintaining a focus on unilateral movement.

Second, I work with a client who spends a majority of their time in a wheelchair as a result of Cerebral Palsy. He is not an athlete, but just a guy who wants to get in shape. Traditional ergometer machines are no challenge to him, and he needed something to challenge him the same as any other client.

Third, and the most impactful, was the need to bring something new to my small group market. In the current climate of small studios and small group training, I needed to offer something that others are not. The Krankcycle was, and remains, that solution. I incorporated it with two other pieces of fixed cardio, a cycle, and a rowing machine. These three elements brought a level of challenge and general usage not offered by many other small studios and has been extremely helpful in maintaining clients and attracting new ones.

I have seen my business increase by about 20%, attributable to the incorporation of the Krankcyle both as a visual attraction and a practical anchor to my classes and private sessions. I have increased the number of Krankcycles to my gym and studio as demand has increased, and if trends continue, will look to add a few more! I am now a Certified Kranking Instructor and look forward to what the future will bring from my relationship with the Johnny G Krankcycle and Matrix.
