Alumna Awarded Fellowship to Research the History of People in Color in Youth Theatre Programs

Shavonne Coleman, '07, is a theatre director and visiting professor  who also founded Acting O.U.T., a creative arts development organization in Detroit. However, a larger concern for the lack of history of people of color in youth theatre has been on her mind since graduate school. Coleman now has the opportunity to uncover the history of African Americans in theatre as a 2018 Theatre for Young Audience Emerging Leader Fellow.

Alumnus, National Guard Physician Assistant Featured in Latest GV Magazine Edition

Since earning two bachelor’s degrees in 2008 and 2009 from GVSU, as well as his master’s in 2011, athletic trainer and physician assistant Brittan Masters has been responsible for the health of high school student athletes, orthopedic patients, and more than 300 soldiers who were stationed with him in the United Arab Emirates. GV a Top Producer of Student, Faculty Fulbrights

Grand Valley is the top producer of both students and faculty members earning Fulbright U.S. Student and Fulbright U.S. Scholar awards in the region, according to the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Four students from Grand Valley received Fulbright awards for the 2017-18 academic year, which is more than any other master's institution in the Midwest.

Grand Valley Joins Statewide Network to Support STEM Education

Grand Valley State University is now a part of a new regional support system for STEM education in West Michigan. Each of the newly formed 16 regions, referred to as the MiSTEM Network, will receive a portion of nearly $1.3 million in state funding to develop their own strategic plans that create a robust regional STEM culture. Grand Valley's Regional Math and Science Center will lead these initiatives after receiving more than $110,000 in state funding.

2018 GVSU Lacrosse — Season Preview with Coach Grovestone

Hear from the Lakers' head coach about how the team prepared for the 2018 season. The Lakers are ranked No. 21 nationally in the IWLCA preseason poll and selected first in the GLIAC coaches' poll. Their season began March 3 at Kutztown.

Former Laker Great Cullen Finnerty Nominated for Michigan Sports Hall of Fame

Grand Valley State gridiron great Cullen Finnerty has been nominated for and is on the ballot for election into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2018. Finnerty, who tragically passed away on May 27, 2013 of pneumonia while on a fishing trip, is one of 26 nominees on the 2018 ballot.

Football Player Earns Spot Through Early Assurance Program

Collin Schlosser, a 2017 graduate and Laker football player, was the first Grand Valley student admitted to the Wayne State University School of Medicine through an Early Assurance Program. 
The partnership between Grand Valley and Wayne State was established in February; Wayne State will reserve five seats in its medical school for qualified Grand Valley students.
