On behalf of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI), welcome! Thank you for enriching our university community.
As we embark on this new year together, I am excited to share the first edition of our CDI newsletter. Through this bimonthly communication, I plan to keep our university community updated about the different opportunities for students and employees to celebrate our differences as well as our shared values.

- Dr. Shannon K. Shastry, Director
As a first-generation scholar, Shannon received her bachelor’s in business administration from Methodist University, her master’s in higher education with a concentration in college administration and leadership from Kaplan University, and her doctorate in educational leadership with a concentration in higher education from UNC-Wilmington.
Her research focus includes women of color, leadership and mentorship. She has over a decade of experience in higher education serving in various roles. Her expertise areas include advocacy, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, strategic planning and crisis response.
- Ricky Rogers ’19, Assistant Director (New Employee)
A proud native of Hampton, VA, Radford alumnus and member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Ricky brings a deep personal connection and a diverse range of experiences to the campus community. After earning his bachelor’s in communication at Radford, he ventured to the University of Pittsburgh where he completed his master’s degree in higher education. Ricky is dedicated to fostering an educational environment where diversity is valued and every student can succeed. Beyond his professional endeavors, he finds joy and relaxation in playing video games and spending quality time with his cat.
- Micah Untiedt, Office Manager
Born and raised in Appalachia, Micah is an avid reader who loves the arts, bees and her cat, Dee Kitty. Micah attended Virginia Tech, where she received a bachelor’s in theatre and cinema. She has a master's in cinema studies from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Her research focuses primarily on feminist film studies, the horror film and the role of women in 19th century spiritualism.
With nearly a decade working in education from pre-K to higher ed, Micah works to build relationships with students and advocate for student needs in order to make the academic and social culture of education inclusive and equitable to all.
- CDI Office Ambassadors are current Radford students who assist the center in developing programming, building connections and performing administrative duties.
