Veterans Day

Parade & Ceremony

Pittsfield’s annual Veterans Day Parade will be held on North Street, with a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on South Street following the parade. Mayor Linda Tyer will give the opening remarks, followed by keynote speaker Jim Clark, the City’s Director of Council on Aging and Veterans Services. The officer of the day is Tyrone Belanger of the Vietnam Veterans of America, James E Callahan, Chapter # 65. More info

Troker +

El automóvil gris

Silent film and eclectic rock come together for this not-to-be-missed event. Troker composed the new soundtrack for El automóvil gris, often considered the most important Mexican silent film, whose story revolves around one of the most famous historical criminal gangs in the country. The on-stage experience consists of the projection of the film in black and white, with live music by the band. More info

Community Day

Sat Nov 11, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
Hancock Shaker Village's annual Community Day is a free day full of fun activities that include craft demos, woodworking and blacksmithing, interpreter-led tours and Shaker talks, plus kids activities and farm animals. All buildings will be open for exploration, as well as several special exhibitions. The accessible, one-mile Farm and Forest Trail, including the South Family Trail, also will be open for everyone to explore. Food and beverages will be available in the Café, and the Mercantile is open for those looking for gifts. More info

Talk: From Private
to Public Stewardship

Cornelia "Nini" Gilder—historian, book author, and a contributing writer to Berkshire Magazine—will give a talk for the 20th anniversary of the Lenox Land Trust entitled “From Private to Public Stewardship—How the Great Estates Left a Legacy of Open Space in Lenox.” The talk at Lenox Town Hall will include the history of properties such as Kennedy Park and the conservationists to whom we owe these open spaces. More info

Hardman Lecture

Award-winning journalist Caleb Gayle will present the 2023 MCLA Hardman Lecture in MCLA’s Feigenbaum Center for Science and Innovation Atrium. Gayle writes about race and identity and is a contributing writer for the New York Times Magazine. His book We Refuse to Forget: A True Story of Black Creeks, American Identity, and Power was published in 2022. He is a professor of Journalism and Africana Studies at Northeastern University. The lecture is free and open to the public. More info
