OEG Team Sheds Light on Safety and Great Service
OEG's Stacy Arelliano (she/her), Bill Ingemanson (he/him) and Annie Logan (she/her) were nominated by OEG Safety Representative Jennifer Connolly.
"As a group of OEG employees were leaving for the day, they encountered a person experiencing a medical emergency in the south tunnel. The traveler collapsed on the moving walkway.
Bill Ingemanson sprang into action to help. There were many travelers around, so he managed the area, stayed calm and followed proper first aid training. Together with Annie Logan and Stacy Arelliano, they shut off the mobile walkway, called the PDX Communications Center, checked vitals and kept the companions of the fallen individual calm until emergency medical services arrived and took over."

Be Knowledgeable:
Fire Safety at Work
Safety is a top priority for PDX People, and this includes safe work practices. If you work in a concession space with a kitchen, the Portland Airport Fire and Rescue team asks you to keep these important tips in mind.
Focus on prevention:
  • Use the hood systems correctly
  • Keep oven and burner areas clean
  • Turn off burners when not in use
  • Know the hazards of your cooking area
Know what to do in case of fire:
  • If you have a commercial hood system and a fire occurs, use the hood system
  • Know where your fire extinguishers are located and read the instructions to ensure you know how to use them
  • Always smother a grease fire on your stovetop; don't try to extinguish the fire with water
  • Call 503.460.4000 for emergencies (Tip: this number is on the back of your PDX badge)

PDX in Pictures
As we look back on 2023, we have much to be grateful for and we're inspired by the many ways PDX People went above and beyond for each other. Awards and recognition in January, April, July and October; a PDX People exclusive sneak peek at the new roof, welcoming new concessions and our annual employee appreciation week are just a few examples of how PDX People lift up those around them. Thanks for being the heart of our airport and here's to a new year full of celebrating what makes PDX one of America’s Best Airports: YOU!
