PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT APPLICATION
The PA profession is growing in popularity. The 2018-2018 CASPA application launched on April 26th.and is the cycle for those hoping to begin studies in January, May or September of 2019. On July 25th there is a PA virtual fair which will be posted on our website as well as the paeaonline.org website.

There are nine deadlines programs can select from in the application cycle. See a complete list of deadline dates and requirements (submit, complete, or verified) here. Note, information will be updated when the cycle goes live on April 26.  

SUMMER INTERNSHIP
It is not too late to secure a health-related opportunity for the summer. Full-time paid formal internships are only one way to gain valuable exposure to healthcare delivery and patient care. Be creative and reach out to area organizations – not just hospitals but rehab facilities, community health centers, nursing homes, hospice programs and more. Our local volunteer database can give you ideas of where to look near your home. You can combine a valuable volunteer opportunity with a paid position as a restaurant, camp or recreation center to have a full, productive summer.
JOB/POSTGRAD OPPORTUNITY
I. Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Hypertension
Research Coordinator Position, 2 year full time commitment


As a research coordinator, you will be working on clinical research trials under Dr. Jonathan Williams in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Hypertension at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  You will work closely with human research study participants and will be responsible for organizing studies, collecting, managing, and analyzing research activities.

Job responsibilities include:
1. Provides assistance on clinical research studies as per study guidelines and protocols.

2. Recruits and evaluates potential study participants. May perform clinical tests such as blood pressure measurement, vital signs, and EKG recording.
3. Interacts with study participants with regard to study, including study participant education, procedural instruction, and follow-up. May serve as a liaison between study participant and physician.
4. Responsible for collecting data and maintaining study participant information database for study. May be required to input data, do analysis, and run various reports. Maintains study participant research records as part of record keeping function.
5. Responsible for research participant recruitment.
6. Assists with data analysis and manuscript preparation.
7. Assists with Institutional Review Board interactions, protocol, and regulatory documentation management.


Candidates should display professionalism, have excellent organization and communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with study participants, researchers, physicians, and other hospital staff. Bachelor’s required, relevant experience in clinical research, academic medical center or equivalent, with an endocrinology knowledge base preferred. II.
 South Coast Dermatology in Weymouth, MA is recruiting graduating pre-health students. The practice has eight health care providers, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician’s assistants, allowing them to offer a fast-paced, collaborative, and diverse learning environment. 

As an assistant in the practice you will be responsible for many of the traditional clinical procedures completed by Medical Assistants, as well as clerical tasks required in today’s healthcare system. Responsibilities include rooming parents and collecting patient histories, assisting with clinical procedures, communicating with insurance companies, filling prescriptions, and assisting patients with any questions regarding treatment regimens and post-procedural care. 

This position is a one or two-year commitment, beginning the first week of June. Successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited undergraduate institute and have completed, or plan to complete all pre-medical requirements.
