Tufts Student Life
Spring Break 2022
March 11, 2022
Dear Student
As we near the halfway point in the semester, we are writing to provide some information about the upcoming spring break.
Class attendance
If you are planning to travel during the break, please make your travel arrangements and other plans so that you can attend all of your classes as usual, including your last class right before spring break starts and the first one after it ends. Professors generally do not give excused absences for students who leave early or return late; nor are they required to provide you with an opportunity to make up class work you missed due to travel plans.
Housing, dining, and facility hours during spring break
  • All students who live in the residence halls are welcome to stay in their regular assignment on campus for all or part of spring break. There is no additional cost and no permission needed, but students are required to sign up by March 16 at noon.
  • Most dining locations close after the dinner period on March 18; hours at each location are available at Tufts dining. Hotung Café will be open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. from March 21 to 25; all other dining locations will be closed.
  • Students who are eligible for meal money support during spring break have received a separate message with detailed information.
  • Tisch Library, Mayer Campus Center, Tisch Fitness Center, and other locations on campus will be operating with reduced hours during spring break. A list of break hours is available here.
  • The Jumbos are competing in several sports over spring break! Check out the full schedule.
COVID testing
  • Students who remain on campus or in the nearby area during spring break are expected to continue testing at their regular testing cadence. The hours for the COVID testing sites are posted to the COVID testing calendar.
  • Students who leave campus during the break should test at their usual cadence until they leave. They should set themselves as “Away” in the Tufts Mobile app for the time they are away from campus, and they should test the day they return.
More information about spring break operations is available here.
Spring break is a great time for rest, a change of pace, time with friends and family, and reflection. We wish you a safe, healthy, and enjoyable break!
Sincerely,
Office of the Dean of Student Affairs
