NACo will hold a number of events related to its joint task force with the National League of Cities on the opioid crisis in the U.S.  In June, a series of Virtual Town Halls will bring together the task force's county appointees, NACo members, and national experts on opioid and heroin abuse.  These town halls will all occur on Thursdays in June at 2pm (EDT) and each will target an aspect of local response to the opioid crisis.  The first call on June 9th will focus on prevention and education measures that local governments can take now to lower the rates of drug use in their communities.  The second town hall on June 16th will focus on the treatment of individuals struggling with opioid addiction while the final town hall on June 30th will cover public safety and community wellness.  You can register for these town hall events by clicking here.
NACo will continue these conversations on the opioid crisis at the NACo annual conference, scheduled for July 22nd - 25th in Los Angeles County, California.  At the conference, a luncheon on July 22nd will feature a series of presentations from NACo partners involved in the efforts to curb the crisis.  To learn more or register for that event, click here.
