What's New with PDX Next: South Ticket Lobby, Concourse C and Lower Roadway
South Ticket Lobby: On Tuesday, April 18, a temp wall will go up around the former Starbucks location in the south ticket lobby, across from Elephants Deli. The wall will slightly reduce the seating area and you can expect to hear some noise as some interior demo takes place. This work is to prepare the area for new common use ticket counters.
Concourse C: Earlier this month, we shared that the PDX play area opened on Concourse D. Now, the play area at the end of Concourse C is open as well. The play equipment will look familiar – it's repurposed from the previous location – but the flooring is a new addition.
Lower Roadway: While not a direct result of construction, it is of note that the smoking area on the north end of the lower roadway is now permanently closed. The smoking areas on the south end of both the upper and lower roadways, and on the north upper roadway, remain open.

Meet the 20 New Local Shops Coming to the PDX Neighborhood
On Wednesday, the names of the 20 food and retail businesses set to open in PDX’s new main terminal were announced. When the newly remodeled main terminal opens in 2024, 100% of the food and retail shops will represent Oregon brands, making the airport even more local and neighborhood-y than it is today. Half of the 20 food and retail businesses involve woman or minority ownership, 13 are new to PDX and the remaining seven are beloved businesses that confirmed their new permanent airport location.

Employees in the Airport Communications Center (ACC) – including airport information and paging, maintenance dispatch and the communications center – serve as the hub of our airport. For National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 9-15), the PDX Dog Therapy Program paid the ACC a visit to help us say thanks and express our appreciation for this team that acts as the trusted lifeline between travelers and emergency personnel.
