Message from the Alumni Board President |
|
|
Special congratulations to our 15th Rosemont College President, Jim Cawley. If you have not yet met Jim, please make the time to do so! He is the consummate professional and has a magnificent vision for our Alma Mater! On behalf of the Alumni Board of Directors, I would like to take the opportunity to wish President Cawley all the best. We are honored to work together for the betterment of our school.
For those who have supported our school in the past, I thank you. I had lost touch with Rosemont College for the better part of 15 years post-undergrad but was welcomed back. I was called one random evening on my landline (showing my age…don’t judge!) by a member of the Alumni Board who was just calling to check in on me. She did not ask for money or for my time. She just wanted to know how I was doing and how she could help reunite me with the school. After the phone call, she followed up with a postcard (which I still have!) The personal touch is something I will never forget.
I treasure this experience, and welcome each of you to reconnect with our Alma Mater. I decided to start supporting our school by writing a check for $50 because it was what I could afford at the time. Can you imagine where our school would be if each of us did the same? Baby steps. Even $5 would make a difference as we work toward 100% class-giving participation.
I often wonder where I would be without my Rosemont experience. I treasure the lifelong friendships, tuning in with my self-worth, and the soft skills I learned from my Liberal Arts education. To quote Cornelia Connellly…”This is the time to ask for great things: faith, zeal, generosity, humility, charity.” To quote Dr. Karen Fiorillo…”You get more from others when you whisper rather than scream.” Please listen as I whisper… “Let’s work together to enrich the academic, athletic, emotional, and spiritual joy offered by the dedicated administrators, professors, and staff at Rosemont College.” We each need to support the “POWER of small!”
If you would like to reach me to check in or say hello, please feel free to text me at 610-761-0921, leave me a voicemail at 610-454-1513, or email me at karenfiorillo@comcast.net Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families :-)
Peace,
Dr. Karen A. Fiorillo, ‘84, BA-English and ‘02, MA-Technology in Education

Share your thoughts about Rosemont and help us plan for the future by taking part in the Strategic Planning Initiative
|
Rosemont has a long history—over 100 years now—of "meeting the wants of the age." The world, and the landscape of higher education, have changed immensely over the past few years, and Rosemont must consider how best to continue this legacy. Rosemont's leadership recently launched a comprehensive strategic planning process to define a vision and plan for the unique and valuable role Rosemont can have in higher education in the future, but specifically within the next 5-years.
A successful future for Rosemont must honor and align with Rosemont's past. This is why we need to hear from you, our valued alumni and friends, who are the legacy of Rosemont. We invite you to complete this anonymous survey to share your thoughts. The survey will be open until November 15.
We will also be hosting virtual and in-person focus groups. If you would like to participate in one of these or would like to schedule a personal discussion with our planning team, please let us know by emailing strategicplan@rosemont.edu.
Thank you for taking time out of your busy lives to support Rosemont in continuing to carry out its mission.
