Applicant Email
April 22, 2016
This message is mostly focused on the personal statement.
BUT: Optional AMCAS Workshop
Monday, April 25, Noon in Dowling Milmore Room
Come to get an overview of the application and tips on how to proceed
Personal Statement
  • What is it?
  • How do I write it?
  • What help is available?
The personal statement is what you will write for your centralized application. This is different from your autobiography. We want the autobiography by May 1 (see registration Part 2). The autobiography is simple, thorough and straightforward. Do not spend lots of time on it. The Personal Statement will take more thought, time and preparation. You may want to begin thinking about it even though you will not need it before June.
Use the information at http://uss.tufts.edu/hpa under application process to get you started:
  • information in the Applicant Handbook
  • prompts for the essays for each of the application services
  • tip sheet for writing the statement
We are happy to read an early draft and give you a general response.
Good news – ARC Writing consultants are available to help all pre-health applicants with their personal statements. For starters there will be optional workshops on How to Write Your Health Professions Essay.
Friday, April 29 at 4 PM in the Campus Center Room TBA
Monday, May 2 at 6PM in the Campus Center Room TBA
After the workshops, applicants can email arcwriting@tufts.edu to be assigned a writing consultant. Put “personal statement” in the subject line to expedite matters.
Take care.
