Hello Community Partners,
I hope your summer is off to a great start! Personally, I'm enjoying the longer days and warmer weather. It's giving me a chance to spend plenty of time in the garden. I find that to be incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating. Unfortunately, however, summertime can sometimes be a time of increased stress for families we serve, as they struggle to find activities and or care for their children.
In our featured article this month, we highlight community resources that these caregivers might find helpful. And for the families we see in Project CONTACT, they have access to our Family Engagement Specialists (FES) who are always available to provide assistance locating these and other types of resources.
Typically, our newsletter features a "notable numbers" section. But this month, we don't need a whole separate section to highlight the excellent work that our two FES do. In the past month, they've held 42 in-person sessions and made 194 phone calls to and on the behalf of the families they serve. This is just one of the many ways our project is helping families in the St. Louis area who have experienced a recent trauma.
As always, we're eager to receive your referrals.
Joel Epstein

As a reminder, we now serve children ages 3-18 who have recently experienced trauma. We use the Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI) a brief therapy model typically lasting between 5-8 sessions. Clients are scheduled at their earliest convenience, usually within 12 days.

Supporting Children's Mental Health During the Summer Months
|
As summer begins, many children look forward to a break from homework, tests, and school routines. Summer can provide valuable opportunities for rest, recreation, family time, and new experiences. However, for some children, the absence of school-based structure and familiar routines can also create challenges that affect their emotional well-being and mental health. This month's article contains suggestions for supporting children's mental health during the summer months.
