Q: When can I close my IRB protocol?
A: Per IRB Policy 1060, a protocol can be closed when all of the following conditions are met: all participant enrollment is complete; all data, including study follow-up data, pertaining to the participants have been collected; no further participant interaction is planned for the research purposes; and, no further analysis of identifiable private information is to be conducted. Principal investigators can request closure of exempt protocols simply by sending an email to the Office of Research Compliance and Integrity. One Aegis: Easier Grant Submissions
We know that applying for a grant or securing a contract for your work is a significant undertaking. During the past year we in the Office of Sponsored Programs have worked hard to provide more services, improve processes, and remove obstacles to make it as easy for you as possible. To that end, we are in the process of testing a new system for securing internal approvals for grant/contract submissions. We are saying goodbye to Streamlyne and hello to One Aegis. We think you are going to be pleased with this transition and we can’t wait to roll it out. More on a launch date very soon and thanks to all the GVSU principal investigators and project managers who volunteered to test the system.

We are pleased to host Write Winning Grant Proposals presented by John D. Robertson, Ph.D. of the Grant Writers’ Seminars & Workshops. This widely acclaimed seminar comprehensively addresses both practical and conceptual aspects that are important to the proposal-writing process. Emphasis is given to such things as idea development, identification of the most appropriate granting agency, how to write for reviewers, and tips and strategies that are of proven value in presenting an applicant's case to reviewers.
Participants are taught to write with a linear progression of logic, which leads reviewers through their applications. It is stressed that applicants are writing for two different audiences – the assigned reviewers, who have read the application in its entirety, and non-assigned reviewers who may have read little, or nothing, of the proposal before the meeting of the review panel. Strategies, tools, and tips designed to merit a fundable priority score are emphasized. The focus of the seminar will be on grant applications to a broad range of funding agencies including federal agencies and foundations.
All participants will receive an extensive handout, as well as a selected hard copy Version of The Grant Application Writer's Workbook. Lunch will be provided. The workshop is free to GVSU employees. Seating is limited, so please register early. RSVP by June 4, 2023.
