Hi There!Â
Welcome to the new school year! I hope these early weeks have been filled with possibility and purpose for you. This June at CUE’s Summer Educator Forum (CUESEF), we gathered around the theme Critical Pedagogy in Action: Urban Education as a Tool for Justice. CUESEF reminded me of the incredible power of community. It was energizing to see educators, researchers, educational advocates, and students come together to imagine and work to build more just futures for young people and their schools.
I’m excited for us to keep that spirit alive in the current school year, where our focus will be on building and sustaining spaces to connect across roles, share stories from practice and research, and learn from one another about what it looks like to bring equity and justice to life in urban education. This year, we will continue to have events with cutting edge researcher/practitioners, cultivate space for writing and resource sharing, and will also offer new experiences to partner more closely with CUE. My hope is that these opportunities will help us not only deepen our understanding, but also strengthen the networks of support and solidarity we need to do this work with courage and care.Â
Thank you for continuing to work with us. Your voice, your practice, and your commitment matter deeply. I’m looking forward to the conversations, challenges, and breakthroughs we’ll share this year.Â
