April/May Exhibitions & Events April begins at the McDonough Museum with your final chance to view the four dynamic exhibitions that opened the spring season (closing April 2). On April 23 the museum will open the Spring Graduating BFA Exhibition and MFA Thesis Exhibitions. Join with us to celebrate the artistic, innovative and thought-provoking creations of these talented students. Spring Exhibitions (Final Days) With the exhibitions closing on April 2, this is your last chance to see Zac Benson's Realizations, James Shawn Crum's Our Blood-soaked Land Is Haunted by My Muses, Max Markwald's Skin and Amy Theiss Giese's The Absence of Light Within These Walls. Each artist gave a talk which can be found on the McDonough YouTube Channel.

McDonough Honors Recital Series This special recital series features current students from Dana School of Music. These pre-recorded performances premiere on Saturday April 10 - Bruce Deal (tuba) & April 24 - Bin Peng (flute) at 7pm on the McDonough YouTube channel.

Cliffe College Alumni Recital Series A pre-recorded performance from the Cliffe College Alumni Recital Series features Tria Corazón. Tria Corazón is composed of 3 YSU Dana School of Music alumni: Anna Reitsma, Elliot Kwolek, and Emma Donkin. Founded in 2018, Tria Corazón has played for the YSU Flute Festival, Portage Community Chapel’s Spring Benefit Concert, the Fall 2020 Porch Concert Series (organized by Tria Corazón), and numerous weddings and private events. The trio’s aim is to promote new music and little-known works to audiences around the Western PA and Northeast OH region. Their performance will premiere on Saturday, April 17 at 7pm on the McDonough YouTube channel.

Spring Graduating BFA Exhibition The Spring Graduating BFA Exhibition celebrates the work of eighteen students in the areas of digital media, photography, graphic + interactive design and interdisciplinary studio art. Students participating in this exhibition include Siobhan Bacha, Amanda Bendel, Naomi Carrier, Michael DeMarco, Megan Gray, Alexis Herrick, Bailey Hill, Cassandra Holsopple, Mohammad Imashat, Anissa Kalbasky, Andrea Minotti, Lani Ngo, Yesenia Pezel, Donato Salisbury, Christina Simmons, Isabella Starkey, Hope Sudol and Chelsea Woodman. The exhibition will be on display April 23-May 8.

MFA Thesis Exhibitions Also in the Museum galleries there will be exhibitions by three students graduating with their MFA in in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts. Karen Fisher's Sucess is Not a Coincidence, Chanda Weigel's Abracadabra and Evie Zimmer's Glimpse will be the culmination of their work in a program designed to cultivate the practice of contemporary artmaking. In their studies they have explored and combined a variety of media that cross studio practices working individually and collaboratively with and across a range of traditional, analogue, and digital mediums and experimental formats infused with ideas and collaboration from disciplines outside of the visual arts.

The Muse Series | Dana Piano Trio Recital Pre-recorded and premiering on Saturday, May 1 at 7pm on the McDonough YouTube channel. The event will feature Dana School of Music faculty Wendy Case, Kivie Cahn-Lipman and Cicilia Yudha. The Muse series features innovative expressions of contemporary culture. It serves to enrich Northeast Ohio with recitals of groundbreaking new music and dynamic collaborations.

Social Media Virtual Exhibitions The McDonough continues to feature additional online exhibitions through our social media platforms. These virtual offerings are curated and can be found on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts and give viewers an opportunity to see special programming from the comfort of their own home!
On May 8 check out our celebration of World Collage Day by viewing on our social media platforms all the projects that were done locally, some using the free starter kits provided by the Museum.

McDonough Gallery Hours The galleries will be open Tuesday - Saturday from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. If you are at high risk, please call 330-941-1400 to make an appointment to visit on Mondays or on a morning before the galleries open.
