Congratulations to Dr. Brett Kocher, Tim Dotson and Carmen Kelly! Welcome Jiréh Holder!

Dr. Brett Kocher was the presenter at one of the concurrent sessions in the 2024 meeting of the Tennessee Association for Institutional Research (TennAIR). Attendees at this conference are research professionals from all manner of institutions in Tennessee. His talk was on using Markov chain methods for enrollment forecasting, focused around the case study of the enrollment forecasting model he developed earlier this year here at UTHSC. Dr. Kocher demonstrated the method for attendees using the software program. He wrapped up with a discussion of results from implementing the new model here at UTHSC, which have been very promising. Dr. Kocher's presentation at TennAir serves as ongoing support of the UT Health Science Center's Strategic Plan. Specifically, Pillar 5, Objective 3 of the Strategic Plan; "Establish and maintain a comprehensive data management framework to leverage existing data, find new sources of data and maximize the value of data across UTHSC." (Strategy 5.3). Dr. Kocher has supported every aspect of this strategy through his work at UTHSC. His presentation highlighted how the acquired data, in the right hands, can predict enrollment at UTHSC.
