International Women's Day – Happy International Women's Day! Today we celebrate the achievements and contributions of extraordinary women all over the world who continue to shape history. Please join me in celebrating the many inspirational women who help lead RPS, including Chair Rizzi and Vice Chair Doerr; Board Members White, Gibson, Harris-Muhammed, Burke, Page, and Dixon; Chiefs Chang, Clemmons, Fox, Harris, Parks, and Wiggins on the RPS Leadership Team; 33 principals; and thousands of teachers and support staff!

School Social Work Week – As School Social Work Week comes to a close, I want to take this opportunity to share my heartfelt gratitude for our team of school social work heroes who lead with love, compassion, and dedication. Thank you for all that you do to make a positive impact on the lives of RPS students and families.

Fine Arts Festival – Join us tomorrow, from 10 am - 4 pm at Huguenot HS, as we celebrate the artistic accomplishments of our students at the seventh-annual RPS Fine Arts Festival. You don't want to miss this – it's truly outstanding!

2024 Congressional Art Competition – Calling all high school artists! Each spring, Members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor the Artistic Discovery Contest to recognize and encourage aspiring artists. All high school students currently residing in the 4th Congressional District are encouraged to submit original works of art by 5 pm on Monday, April 22, to: VA04_Projects@mail.house.gov. RRHA Waitlist Updates – The Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority is requiring everyone who would like to remain on the Housing Choice Voucher waitlist to update their information on the applicant portal. All information must be updated no later than March 29 – no exceptions. See the flyer below for details.

Beginning of Ramadan – Sundown on Sunday, March 10, marks the beginning of Ramadan – the Muslim holy month when fasting is practiced from dawn to dusk for 30 days. During this time, please be mindful that observant students and staff may be tired, dehydrated, and hungry. Please extend them extra grace and love during this time. And Ramadan Mubarak to all who celebrate!

- A huge shout-out and thank you to our phenomenal school social worker, Ms. Morley. The students and teachers here at George Washington Carver Elementary would like to honor you this week for your dedication and care. You are a super star and we love you!
- Shout-out to Briana Branch, school social worker, for doing a fantastic job leading the school social work department's social committee. She coordinated daily events for the school social workers to collectively celebrate School Social Work Week. Briana is such an asset to the school social work department, and to RPS as a whole. Thank you for all you do, Briana!
- I would love to give my kids teachers at Henry Marsh a huge shout-out...Ms. Mitchell, 3rd grade; Ms. Fontain, 4th grade; and Ms. Jordan, 5th grade, are amazing teachers! My kids love them so much for all that they do for them.
- Shout-out to the following middle school ICCs and their team for making this year’s rising ninth grade transition meetings smooth and extremely informative. Dr. Turkson, Mr. Balo, Ms. Caldwell, Ms. Scott, and Ms. Morrison, we appreciate all your hard work. Huguenot looks forward to working with each student and their parents, as we prepare students for the next phase in their lives.
- A super Summer Hill shout-out to the "Sweetheart Sneaker Ball" committee and all those who helped make a memorable event for our families. Thank you to Mrs. Nunnally, Mrs. Rouse, Mrs. Hill, Mrs. Easter, Ms. Mickens, Ms. Matute, and Ms. Hernandez!
- Congratulations to Ms. Nurse's class at Oak Grove-Bellemeade ES for being the top scorers in the "We The People" simulated congressional hearing competition. Everyone did a great job and was well prepared.

- I would like to send a huge shout-out and thanks to the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and specifically, Dr. Dionne Ward, for providing readers on Monday to kick off our "Read Across America" program here at Blackwell Preschool. | RTC Open House – Everyone is encouraged to check out the great things happening at the Richmond Technical Center during their upcoming open house. Stop by on Wednesday, March 13, from 6 - 7:30 pm, to learn more about opportunities available to students in our Career and Technical Education program.

| RPS History Fair – The 2024 RPS History Fair will be held on Thursday, March 14, at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. Mark your calendars to come out and support our students as they walk us through the "Turning Points of History." The fair will begin with a gallery walk from 5 - 6 pm, followed by an awards program from 6 - 7 pm. Hope you can make it!
