Dear parents and families,
Move-in Day is just around the corner. I am so excited to officially welcome your family to WashU in person!
As your student prepares for the fall semester, know that there are some important things happening this month:
-
Registration for Parent & Family Orientation opens July 1 and closes July 26. It is designed to help families understand the student experience, campus resources and ways to support your student’s transition into university life.
-
Students can view their housing assignments and move-in date and time July 1 in the Housing Portal.
-
If you have not been able to attend the Family Webinar Series, you can find recordings of the sessions online. There is still time to register for the remaining live sessions, which will help answer any questions you might have about your student coming to WashU.
The Incoming Families Guide is another valuable resource to help you and your student prepare for life at WashU. Looking forward to meeting your student next month!
Warmly,

Reminder: Fall tuition and fees statement available July 1 |
Your student's fall tuition and fee bill will be posted to their student account in Workday on July 1. If someone else (like a parent or family member) is helping your student pay, they need to have third-party access in Workday to view and pay the bill. Set up access via Workday Access for Families.
Registration for Fall 2026 courses will take place via Workday beginning July 8 at 9 a.m. Encourage your student to enroll in Dialogue Across Difference, a course for undergraduate students that helps them build essential skills like critical thinking, civil discourse and respectful dialogue—tools they’ll use well beyond the classroom.

Housing assignments and move-in time slots available to view |
The 2025-2026 Residential Life housing assignment, including roommates/suite mates, and your student's move-in time slot are available to view on the Housing Portal starting July 1.
If applicable, students should reach out to their roommates/suite mates via their WashU email(s) to introduce themselves and discuss what items they will bring to the room or suite. View our packing list for suggestions.
We do our best to meet students' preferences. If your student wishes to request a room change, they can access the Room Change Form via the Request Forms tab on the Housing Portal. Room change requests will not be processed until after the first two weeks of fall classes.
Incoming first-year students are not permitted to move-in early.
First-year international students will move-in on Thursday, August 13 and will not select a move-in date and time in the Housing Portal. First-year international students must complete their international arrival information in their WashU Pathway Portal by July 31. Students are advised to do this after they book their flights.
Fall varsity athletes may have different arrival dates than those stated above. Please check with your student's head coach for more information.

Encourage your student to download the WashU Safe App. The app includes important safety alerts and access to campus safety resources along with enhanced features such as Friend Walk, Mobile Bluelight, safety notifications, access to emergency procedures and more.

The Family Webinar Series is designed to keep families informed and connected about all things WashU. We know families play an essential role in student success, so each webinar is thoughtfully structured around the questions you may be asking, now and in the months ahead. Mark your calendars for these upcoming sessions as you prepare your student to move to campus. Advanced registration is required for the live webinars.

Until September 4, students have the option to adjust their meal plan by completing a Meal Plan Change Request Form via the Request Forms tab on the Housing Portal.
Meal plan changes can affect financial aid packages. Encourage your student to follow up with their Student Financial Services Counselor prior to submitting a Meal Plan Change Request Form.
