2024 Climate Leaders Program Request for Applications

The annual KIETS Climate Leaders Program (CLP) is designed to empower, educate and inspire the next generation to embark on careers and become innovative leaders in addressing climate change. The Program focuses on developing solutions to adapt to, mitigate or reverse negative effects of climate change. KIETS CLP will select NC State students as KIETS Climate Leadership Scholars annually. Tenure Track Asst. Professor in Climate Justice or Environmental Justice – University of Illinois

The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Science (GGIS), in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, invites applications and nominations for a full-time 9-month (academic year) tenure-track Assistant Professor in Human Geography with research and teaching experience in Climate Justice and/or Environmental Justice to join a transdisciplinary cluster of new professors focused on Climate Impacts, Risk, and Inequality. We seek applications from individuals with experience in the uneven impacts of climate change and related environmental processes on vulnerable communities, preferably with an urban focus, in any world region. TT Assistant Professor of Community and Regional Planning – Missouri State University

The Department of Geography, Geology and Planning invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2024 with expertise in community and transportation planning and geography. A Ph.D. in Urban Planning or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. The successful applicant will teach an introductory Urban Studies general education course and have the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the department’s Community and Regional Planning and Geography and Sustainability major programs, including the community planning practicum (studio) and transportation planning courses. People First Tourism Lab has been collaborating with the Center for Student Leadership and Engagement (https://sle.dasa.ncsu.edu/) for a long while; specifically in the offer of alternative service break programs during Spring Break. Apply now to become a student leader! Selected students are trained in leadership during the Fall semester and then help to plan the trip. As compensation, a portion of your trip will be paid for (depending on the number of student leaders selected and whether you are leading a domestic or international trip). VOLUNTEER Opportunities

Raleigh Parks – Deck the Parks

We need all the elves we can get, that includes you! Help us transform Pullen Park into a winter wonderland! Hundreds of lights, displays, wreaths, and garland need to be unpacked and hung for the holiday season. Help us ‘deck the park’ for a magical experience!

Volunteers will work in small groups or individually to hang lights, wreaths, and orbs. We will be wrapping trees, decorating bushes, running extension cords, putting up trees and more. Some ladder use may be required. By volunteering to help ‘deck the park’, you will be part of the park’s transformation into a winter wonderland.

Work will occur outdoors in October and November. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear/bring layers. Work will be equivalent to light yard work or home holiday decorating. Restrooms are available onsite.

Volunteer Opportunities with Victory Junction!

Victory Junction is one week away from starting our busy fall family programs! We can’t serve our campers and families without our amazing volunteers who support our weekends, help make sure camp is ready, provide supplies, and so much more. We have endless opportunities for you & your friends, families, students, team, club, or organization to get involved:

Family Weekends – Volunteers get paired with a family and spend the weekend supporting them through activities & meals. These programs run from Friday night to Sunday afternoon and provide the opportunity for families to explore the magic of Camp together!.

Group Volunteer Days – bring a group to camp and work on specific projects to help support the camp. This could range from prepping cabins for families, facility maintenance, or prepping activities for programs. These can take place on any day when programs are not happening at camp.

Remote Volunteer Opportunities – if you cannot make it to camp, we do have some projects that can be done remotely. Some examples include collecting donations from our wishlist, making blankets for campers, and building craft kits for our REACH program.

Durham Sports Commission Needs Volunteers

The goal of the DSC Volunteer Program is to empower passionate individuals to contribute their time and skills in support of enhancing the culture of sports in Durham. Our volunteer program will strive to create a vibrant and inclusive network who feel a sense of teamwork and belonging while serving their communities. Special Olympics North Carolina – Unified Track & Field District Manager – Volunteer Position

The Unified track & field District Manager oversees and manages program activities within the assigned schools. They will report directly to SONC staff regarding the status of each school program, along with necessary paperwork. They will be the liaison between SONC and the schools for which they are assigned.

Program Overview: Special Olympics North Carolina Unified Track and Field is a fully-inclusive co-ed interscholastic high school track and field program which successfully facilitates social inclusion by bringing together students with and without intellectual disabilities. Students train together and compete as teammates. Unified Track and Field teams are regarded like every other interscholastic sports team at the high school.

Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week for 8 weeks minimum

The most important role in the leagues! Referees arrive early, set up, officiate games with a high level of consistency and integrity. They are also responsible for reporting the scores after the games in a timely manner. Individuals will need to learn to apply and enforce all rules for the sport they are officiating.
