In this trailblazing musical for young audiences based on Chelsea Clinton’s best-selling book, fourth-grader Naomi’s field trip to a Women’s History Museum turns into a time travel adventure where she encounters inspirational women overcoming barriers and making waves. New York Theatre Barn
Now in its 13th season, New York Theatre Barn's New Works Series presents exclusive “pre-premieres” of new musicals in the early stages of development. New York Theatre Barn is keeping original live theatre alive during this unprecedented time. From our homes to yours, we are excited to share and experience the magic of live theatre in development.
Thi installment will be a 45-minute virtual live stream which will include excerpts from two new musicals: 
  • Our New Town (by Gabriel Jason Dean, Jessie Dean and David Dabbon) - After the deadliest shooting on a college campus in U.S. history, the surviving cast members of the university production of Our Town put together an unauthorized show as a way to unite. When that unauthorized show is stopped mid-performance, the cast and audience must decide to comply or continue in their rebellion.
  • Elektric (by Emerson Mae and Murphy Taylor Smith) - A pair of twins, one cisgender, one transgender. Reunited after a decade by a God-sent mission: kill their mother to avenge their father. An epic trans woman centered musical retelling of the Elektra tragedy.

NAMT, in conjunction with One Foot Productions, has recently launched a new podcast series, 
Muse: Discover Musicals, giving you a front-row seat to groundbreaking new musicals in development.
Spotlighting a wide range of new musicals and bringing their stories, songs and characters to life with the help of the shows’ writers, Muse is a behind-the-scenes showcase of some of musical theatre’s most compelling and daring new voices. Each episode features in-studio performances of original songs, table reads and interviews. The first season of Muse has just been released and features five episodes, each highlighting a new musical that was developed through NAMT’s Festival of New Musicals. All five episodes are now available for free to listeners on all major podcasting platforms, including Apple PodcastsSpotifyGoogle Podcasts and Stitcher. Listeners can also visit the podcast website at discoverthemuse.com to listen to the episodes and to find more information about the individual shows and authors.
