Learn How to Spot Fake Internships and Job Scams |
As you gear up for summer internships and work experiences, be aware of fraudulent job ads that might land in your GW email. These scams can pop up anytime, so check out these tips to stay safe:
|
- Don’t follow links within email or SMS messages without checking the source.
- Verify sender and job details independently: Look up the organization and job title using a reliable search engine, and check the myGW directory for contact information.
- Look for misspellings, incorrect grammar, strange references, and poor writing. Scammers often make these mistakes, so spotting them can help you avoid falling victim.
- Never provide personal information, particularly addresses, social security numbers, and payment information through email without knowing who is receiving this information.
-
Be extremely cautious of job ads that lead to requests for payment or bank information.

Reset Your Password Without Having to Visit a Walk-In |
Everyone forgets their password once in a while. To ensure you can reset yours easily without needing to visit a Walk-in Support Center, add a secondary Two-Step Authentication (2SA) method. This secondary method simplifies identity verification, which is required for password resets. Using the Microsoft Authenticator App as your primary 2SA method not only secures your account more effectively than SMS texts or phone calls but also streamlines the password reset process by automatically verifying your identity.
