Online master's students meet up: Students in the newly-launched online master's in digital and integrated marketing communications program met for an orientation weekend event on Aug. 18-19 at KU Edwards Campus. Associate Professor Mugur Geana has joined the editorial board of Public Health Education and Promotion, a section within "Frontiers in Public Health" and "Frontiers in Education." Frontiers is the world's third most cited publisher of peer-reviewed research, and "Frontiers in Public Health" is one of the top journals in the field.
Professor Yvonnes Chen's research on abstract has been accepted for poster presentation by the Kansas Public Health Association. This work describes her team's dissemination and evaluation of communication messaging to internal and external stakeholders. Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provide the funding. Her co-authors include staff and faculty at the KU Medical Center, Sonora Quest Laboratories and the University of Utah.
Associate Professor Mugur Geana received an award from the 12th Triennial Invitational Choice Symposium organizers for his valuable contribution to the conference, which took place in Fontainebleau, France, Aug. 9-12.
Associate Professor Emeritus David Guth's novel, "In the Moment: The Journey of the Class of '70," has been accepted for publication by Pegasus Publishers of London.

Visit the Study Abroad Fair: The Study Abroad Fair will take place Wednesday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Ascher Plaza in the Kansas Union.
Attendees will learn about the 165+ programs in 70+ countries, how to fund study abroad, campus based global experiences such as the Global Awareness Program, language and area studies and how to integrate an international education into your KU experience.

The Student Success Series will begin Sept. 13 from 4-5 p.m. in the Clarkson Gallery. Students can set themselves up for success by joining this monthly series that will set them up to be their best self. Next week's session will feature helpful advice from the Academic Learning Center to sharpen students' study and time management skills. The workshop is open to all students, and snacks are provided. No RSVP required.
SJMC Diverse Students Organization will hold its first meeting on Sept. 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the Clarkson gallery. The William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications' Diverse Students Association (DSA) is an organization where individuals of any background can learn to navigate the school and careers in journalism and mass communications. Volunteer for KSPA: The Kansas Scholastic Press Association is seeking volunteers to assist with its 2023 fall conference at KU on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Volunteers can help the KSPA office prepare for the conference on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 1-5 p.m. and/or help the day of the conference on Sept. 27 from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Volunteers can work for as few as two hours. Family Weekend Open House: On Friday, Sept. 22, families of current SJMC students are invited to attend the School of Journalism and Mass Communications Open House. Bring your family to Stauffer-Flint Hall from 2:30-4 p.m. to see where you are taking classes, tour the building and talk with faculty and staff. Families can also learn about our academic programs, campus media and student organizations and student support services. We hope to see you and your family there!
