| Arts in Our Schools Spotlight – Many thanks to Yaa-Nailah Bell-Barber from Richmond Community HS for sharing her love of art with us yesterday. Today's story comes from Stuart Harnsberger, IB art teacher at Thomas Jefferson HS. As an R.E.B. award recipient, Mr. Harnsberger had the opportunity to travel to Greece where he studied small still life paintings of local foods and artifacts from the region. "I attempted to create one painting per day for a month and found that I really need to return to being an artist myself, and not just an art teacher. When I returned to Richmond, I spent time to rehab my garage into a studio/gallery and set up my first solo art show. Through this process I have been able to rekindle my appreciation for painting. Now I make time each weekend to focus on making at least one painting. My goal is to have another art show this Spring."

Jason

- To all of the phenomenal assistant principals in RPS, shout-out to you for all you do. The official recognition is during spring break so let's get this party started early.
- I would like to give a huge shout out to Jasmine Lomax, Azalea Gilbert, and Robin Mayes for supporting the career fair at Armstrong High School today.
- Thank you to LHES – from the front office ladies, to the nurses, to the music teacher and our speech therapist – we love all of you. Thank you for being so kind and caring. My kids love you all.
- We would like to give a very special Warrior Way shout to the incredible Fine Arts Department and Expanded Core Team of Henderson Middle School, as well as all of our Warrior Fine Arts student performers who shared their talent last night at our Spring Concert! Last night, the Warrior Chorus, Band, Orchestra, and Dance Company performed for the NorthSide Community in the Henderson Campus Auditorium. All of the performances were absolutely amazing. Special Warrior Way thanks to Mrs. Barnes for her incredible leadership of the Expanded Core Team, Mr. Fuller-Director of Bands & Orchestra, Ms. Weaver-Chorus Director, and Mrs. Anderson-Dance Company Director, for their dedication and work to prepare our Warrior students to perform. Thank you to Mr. Cosby, Ms. Bacon, Ms. Rozier, Mr. Earnshaw, Dr. Campbell, and our Warrior custodial team for all the help with preparation, performance, and stage design. This truly was a Northside Warrior Family effort. Thank you to all the Warrior staff members and families who were able to come out to show support.
- I would like to give kudos to Ms. Felix at Oak Grove Elementary for her enormous amount of patience and understanding with her students. She is a new teacher who embraces and models teaching with love!
- I want to give a huge shoutout to coach Terrell Marshall who came and gave a skill building camp at John B. Cary after school this month. He was dynamic, warm, encouraging, and just amazing! We showered him with thank you cards and good luck cards today in celebration of the tournament that John Marshall will be playing in next week. Thank you, Coach Marshall! You’ve made an impression on these kids! Can’t wait to have you back next year! Good luck to the entire team and coaching staff at John Marshall!
