Six Students, Alumni Named Fulbright Semifinalists
|
|
|
| Six Miami University students and alumni are semifinalists in the 2023-2024 Fulbright U.S. Student competition.
Four Miami seniors and two alumni have been recommended by the U.S. National Screening Committees for further consideration by the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board in the countries to which they applied. They will learn this spring whether they will receive the Fulbright grants.

Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides graduating seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates with the opportunity to conduct independent research, pursue a graduate degree, or teach English abroad. Join Global Initiatives at upcoming information sessions to learn more about Fulbright opportunities and the application process. Applications for the 2024-2025 academic year will be due in early Fall 2023.

Bulanda Accepted into Virtual Exchange Academy
|
|
|
|
Associate Professor Jennifer Bulanda (Sociology and Gerontology) was recently selected for the 2023 Virtual Exchange Academy, a six-week-long, certificate training program in designing and facilitating virtual exchange. Offering virtual exchange allows Bulanda to engage Miami students in dialogue, explore important social issues, and form relationships with students in other countries.

Wanted: Spring 2023 Global Ambassadors
|
|
|
| Global Ambassadors are undergraduate international students who assist International Admissions with recruiting and supporting international students who are applying for Miami University as their future school.
International Admissions is looking for Spring 2023 Ambassadors who want to positively impact incoming international students and their experience applying and confirming enrollment at Miami.
Ambassador tasks include speaking with students, attending in person and virtual panels, and supporting International Admissions social media.

Global Initiatives Launches Ambassador in Residence Program

To celebrate alumni alumni who have gone on to work in the diplomatic and foreign services sectors, Global Initiatives is inaugurating an Ambassador in Residence program. From February 28–March 15, our first Ambassador in Residence will be Carlo Krieger, Ph.D. A native of Luxembourg, Dr. Krieger began his studies at the University of Vienna, then went on to Miami to receive a B.A. in social anthropology in 1981.
