Travel Reminders

The end of the spring semester is almost upon us!  For those traveling internationally this summer, a few travel reminders:
OIS Advising
The OIS will be open after classes end (May 9), though drop-in hours will cease until the Fall semester.
Visit calendly.com/ois-bliss to schedule a virtual or in-person appointment after May 9 and over the summer.
In case of immigration- or travel related emergency during the nights or weekends when the OIS is closed:
  • whatsapp: +1-413-200-0864
  • call: +1-413-542-5971
Check your Travel Signature
All F-1 and J-1 visa holders entering the U.S. must have a "valid" travel signature (endorsement) on their I-20 or DS-2019.

In order for the travel signature on your I-20 or DS-2019 to be considered valid, it must be less than one year old (or less than six months old if you are on OPT) at the time of your return to the U.S.

To request a travel signature, please email the OIS.
Review the Travel Checklist before departing the U.S.
If you are a current F-1 or J-1 student planning to travel abroad, be sure to carry the following documentation with you when you return to the United States.

CURRENT F-1 AND J-1 STUDENT
  • valid passport, with at least 6 months of validity remaining
  • valid F-1 or J-1 visa
  • A current I-20 or DS-2019 with a travel signature less than one year old
  • Recommended: A copy of your I-901 SEVIS fee receipt
  • Recommended: Proof of funding (financial aid award, original bank statements, etc.)
  • Recommended: Proof of enrollment (admissions offer, letter from Registrar, etc.)
UPDATE: U.S. COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Non-immigrant Travelers Ending May 11
The U.S. will end the COVID-19 vaccine requirements for international air travelers at the end of the day on May 11, the same day that the COVID-19 public health emergency ends.
Starting May 12, noncitizen nonimmigrant air passengers will no longer need to show proof of being fully vaccinated with an accepted COVID-19 vaccine to board a flight to the United States.

IF ENTERING THE U.S. BEFORE MAY 11, 2023:
